to expose the wiring for tapping the gauge dimmer/power wires ?

In the past I used a tap that slid over the fuse for the instrument lights. This fuse used to be inside the drivers door. No need to pull bezel and risk and airbag deployment.

 

I think if you take off the lower panel first, there is one screw. Then pull off the fusebox cover in the Door jamb to reveal another screw, then it should pull off. Absolutley zero risk of airbag deployment. Just don't mess with any yellow wiring connectors anywhere, those are Airbag connectors.

the dimmer function.
