Thumbs down How Come

How come my truck doesn't come stock with an EGT gauge? If it is suppose to be a work horse i would think it should come with one. I know the chevys come standard with them.

Is it just that chrysler is to cheap?

Chevys don't come standard with EGT's unless the 06 does, I haven't been in one yet. On a stock configuration, you don't need to monitor the EGT's. Once you add more fuel or change parameters then you have to worry about EGT's among other things.

Chevy's come with a standard Tranny Temperature gauge which is a start. Their oil pressure guage seems to work also, it moves with the throttle under load. And that's the best I have to say. ks

I think they design the fuel map to sacrifice power for longevity.

Unless you bomb these trucks it's my understanding its pretty hard to hit max EGT's.

On mine I could hit 1250 with a bhaf and 4" straight pipe and nothing else. Now I hit 1250 an extra 171 hp.

EGTs

Thats a trick question, IMO If your towing ,1350 sustained is max for the 2004.5. If your doing 1/4 mile runs , a higher temp for a short duration will probably not do immediate damage. I am trying to build my truck to remain 1350 or below in any situation I will be putting it in. Because thats the temperature is was designed to handle. Ruining 1500 degrees even in a 1/4 mile is unacceptable to me. But guys have been running 1/4s at much higher temps than that without meltdown. So thats why I say its a trick question.
