homemade intake/cold air intake
can someone help me out, and explain to me/tell me how i can make my 03' stock intake with a K&N drop in filter better and more free flowing or is there a way to turn it into a cold air intake
First and biggest question back at you is what do you drive....fill in your sig.... are you running a what? year, model etc.
are you able to help me out?
what I did is cut the muffler back off of my truck. Then I took the 4" part of the exhasut and cut a 6" piece out of it and drilled a hole in it. Then I took the top of my airbox off, cut the piece with the airflow sensor bung off of it and put it on the exhaust piece that I had made. Then I bought a high flow aFe pro dry conical filter and put on that. I also cut the bottom and front off of my lower airbox to make a heat sheild out of it. Over all, it works great and all I actually bought was some high temp silicone and the filter.

you could loose the k&n and swap in an amsoil elemet. why do you want "cold air" so bad. IMO they are over-rated. money can be spent better other places

its not the cold air i want i jst wanted to know what i could do with the stock intake to get more out of it and if that meant making it a cold air then thts cool too bt if not thats cool too
do what i did, it costs like 10 for silicone and 60 or so for a filter and later on you can add a torque tube and It'll be just as good as an afe stage 1 with torque tube added to it. and you saved 300 bucks
Oh, and you get a louder exhaust.
I will no doubt, thanks alot i apreciate it!

I bought a 5'' 90 degree exhaust pipe elbow, used the stock 90* rubber elbow and put that metal pipe into it....put an afe filter on it and some paint, drilled the holes for the sensor and was done. Sounds awesome and is every bit as good as an afe and is waaaay cheaper. $30 dollars for the pipe and $68 dollars for the filter and about 30 minutes to make.
yeah, my torque tube is just 5.5" alum. tubing and it sounds great too. An intake is actually very easy to build using stock stuff.

That Willys Whistler looks easy enough to construct if you dont mind waiting for the parts that are back ordered or they were. And you can even ditch the 6" amsoil filter and go to an S&B for almost half the price. Mine is on the way from verociousmotorsports.com. I talked to Tom and was great to deal with. Also gona try a new elbow on the turbo to get from 4 to 6 inch and then 6 all the way to the filter. May be a week or so but i will show it off when done.

I agree with loosing the K&N for a dry Amsoil element. But in case you didn't no, a TRUE cold air intake system is the best type of intake system one could have, diesel OR gas engine [duhhh][dummy]
