Unhappy Hmmmm. DTT trans issue..

Lately I've found that if I do a really hard pull on the street, I start to smell burning fluid and I get some fluid dripping from the inspection plate under the bellhousing. I pulled the plate off and the converter itself is dry so it must be coming from somewhere else. The temp guage doesn't show that it's getting hotter than normal and the fluid leak pretty much goes away if I go back to driving like normal. I will still have a drip every couple of days but that may just be residual. It's not a whole lot of fluid that comes out, maybe a 1-2" puddle, but it definitely concerns me.
It's been a while since I built a trans but I remember that there used to be a vent on the pump at the front of the trans. I'm wondering if somehow I'm getting too much internal pressure at full throttle and that's causing fluid to come from that vent?!?! Other than that, all I can think is a bad pump gasket or pump seal where the TC goes into it. It seems like if it was one of those two, that it would leak all the time.

Any ideas????

Hmmm, so you are saying that maybe I have too much fluid in there??? Sure would be nice if that's all it was. Problem is that it did it before and after my new filter change. Hard to believe Tim and I both overfilled it......

Did you get the upgraded drum? If so that may be it. Bill has told me that after a hard run they can do that but nothing to worry about. I would give him a call though.

Might be worth a check.. It has happened to me too. I put too much fluid in after a filter change one time and it leaked out the vent. I would get the fluid hot and see how much it shows on the stick.

After I upgraded tranny and TC I get a little puddle after every hard pull with the toy hauler. Was told it was the from the vent tube also.

Which part? Dyno numbers or the addition of billet shafts?
