High Flow Cats

We all know that removing or bypassing the cat is against the law. For those of you out there that want to remove it for the increase flow, Magnaflow has released a High Flow cat for diesels. So you can have a 5" diameter cat that is high flow and still pass inspections/emissions. We have to remember that we can not talk about bypassing any federally Mandated Emissions systems on this forum. It has been Stickied and people still chat about it. Now there is an option and staying legal to boot.

If we want to talk technicalities it is illegal to remove a functioning Cat in Cali, even if it is to replace it with another. The next question that comes to mind is the magnaflow cat carb approved?
There is nothing wrong with the factory cat, what I have done is to make the inlet and outlet the correct size for the application in some cases

I've found a Magnaflow 5" cat for a little over 1/3 of that price. Still pricy, but I guess some people will pay the price for it to stay legal. I'm also not sure if it's the high-flow one cbrahs is talking about.

The answer to your question is yes, it is legal to replace in California as long as it has a CARB #. The magnaflow 5" cat will get you by inspection.

I've already looked into it... BTW, I also work for CA DMV headquarters...
Don't throw rocks at me, it isn't my fault!

Anyone have the P#? I'm interested, but the only ones I've found are OEM type.

I have looked into this to replace my missing cat but just really dont care to spend $500 for it. There seem to be different options, $500 comes with more piping, $300 or so just for the cat itself. This is 4" by the way.
