Help with wheels again....sorry

OK. I'm still lost on what's going to fit and what's not.
Need a set of 17"x?. Prolly 9" wide.
Most of the wheels I'm looking at have a 4.5" backspacing, but then the offsets vary from-6mm to -12mm or more.

I understand the 17"x8" factory alloys to have a 42.3mm offset (1.7"). So I'm figuring the stock wheels to have a 5.7" backspacing.

So far so good?

HOWEVER...none of that tells me what the limits are without rubbing.
A 9" wheel, with 4.5" backspacing & -12mm offset I think is...almost 5"?
Is that going to clear and just stick out?

17x9 pro comp 1079 on 315 nitto dune grappler. 4.5" BS No problems with rubbing w/ a leveling kit. These are older pics. I was running a 315 hankook MT back then and did not have stacks.

Those must have had the -6mm offset too then.
Think they would have rubbed with no leveling kit?

Approx how far do those wheels stick out past the fender, although great pics it's hard to tell, maybe you could pull some rough measurements. Thanks

From my calculations it would be about 1.75".

that sounds about right. I like some wheel outside the fender but not too much. Your paint however, will suffer if you travel on gravel much w/o some mud flaps or fender flares.

Not quite; in order to convert offset to backspacing you need to add approximately 1" (for the rim lip) to the actual rim width. So that brings the factory offset to 6.25". The offsets vary @ a specific backspacing depending on the rim's width. 4.5" backspacing will not clear with any size tire over a 285 unless you have a leveling kit. Then you can squeeze in a 305 SOMETIMES. I would stick with a 33" tire and a 17x8 or 17x9 wheel with 5.5"+ of backspacing. That would fit with no rubbing whatsoever.....
