Help with SB 3250 DD

I have a 2006 with a 3250 DD. Just lately when I start in 2nd gear there is a sound like the clutch is slipping. I also fell it in the pedal. If I start in 1st nothing. 12,000 miles on the clutch. Have not hooked anything behind her yet to see if it holds the weight but what to you guys think. It has always jumped a little when backing up and made 2 very different sounds one at idel with the clutch out and one with the pedal in. Almost like a bearing out. I need some advice please. Thanks

The sounds you are hearing at idle are normal for a DD clutch. With the pedal out, it's the intermediate plate rattle. With the pedal in, its the two discs slipping between the intermediate plate.

I'm not sure what you are refering to as a sound of the clutch slipping when pulling out. Are you're RPM's jumping without picking up any more speed?

The DD clutch does make all kinds of noises. It's something I have learned to live with. And people at toll booths really look at you funny too!

Mine growls on light takeoffs while unloaded. Is this what you speak of?

If its sounds almost like a rubbing sound your clutch just has a light glaze on the ceramic buttons from not being abused. My friend had that and called south bend and they told him to be really hard on it a few times. IE holding the brake while letting the clutch out so it will slip and then pushing it back in before over heating it, let it cool down. Rev up in 3rd gear and dump the clutch... stuff like that

Mine does the same things. I've found that in reverse the secret is to rev the engine a bit and slip the clutch some. Otherwise it's grabby enough at low rpm to make the truck jump around quite a bit. The real problem is that reverse in the G-56 is too high geared! A big-rig type high numerical reverse gear would be a big help.
