Big Bob----I am guessing the wheel well liners had to be removed to install the flares, right?

PapaPerk,

No probelm , I had a set of Bushwacker Extend-A-Flares on my truck for about 3 weeks. Tires do not stick out of the fender wells with stock rims and it looked kinda froggie. When I took them off there was a line on all four fenders where the top of the flare was on the fender. Polishing compound did not take it all out. If I had been down at the coast where I normally am it would have sand blasted all the way through the paint. When I do a full lift and different wheels I will need flares, just looking for the right ones.

BTW the Power Wagon felt just like the 3/4 ton GMC 4x4s I used to setup years ago. Normally used 7" lift, 40" mudders, small block 400s with crane mid range cam for 4x4 torque range and 5.13 gears. They would go anywhere, got about 6-8 mpg and never tried to pull anything heavier than a boat. They would hurt you off road if you were not careful. Always put in 5 point seat belts in my seat, everybody else was on their own.

That is the exact reason I went with the Xenon's! They have 3m tape to hold them in place on the top. No paint damage here!

I vouch for BiG BOb! You need the 3m tape, otherwise when you truck jiggles, the flare will move and act like sand paper on your finish. Also, the sand, dirt and grime that builds between the flare and the body aint helping matters.

Why not use double-sided tape on the Bushwacker flares and eliminate the rubbing? Isn't there enough of a lip to apply it? Any pics of the Bushwackers from the inside before they are installed?

The edge of the Bushwacker flares that fits against the body is just an edge, not enought surface to use double sided tape. They provide a rubber strip to go on the flare edge to keep from scratching the paint, but it does not solve the problem.

I want good flares and do not want to paint them. I really like the look of the Dodge Power Wagon flares. Anyone have suggestions? Basically if I could get the Power Wagon's flares with tape I would be a very happy camper!

The Power Wagon flares are designed exactly like th Bushwacker flares. You can not use tape effectively with them.

Yeah that is what I have heard about the power wagon flares. So where should I get some flares that are the power wagon but with tape?

Fender flares should come stock on these trucks, my rocker panels are chipped to hell and the truck isn't even a year old. I recently got the Warn 4XFlares, I'm going to have them sprayed with poly-bed liner material. I'm also planning on trimming the Mopar mud flaps to fit with the flares. The reason I chose the Warns was because they require less drilling than the Bushwackers, they look cool and www.gowarn.com sells them for a good price. The EGR's are a good product (had them on one of my previous trucks), no drilling required, hold up pretty well and are reasonably priced. I had Xenons on my last truck, they are an excellent product, look great, resist scuffing/dings very well, but installation is a bit involved (be patient).

I installed the Warn Pocket Style flares last December, NO DRILLING REQUIRED (to do the actual install). You do have to drill and install all those little cosmetic bolts. I had to loosen the fronts yesterday to remove bumber for light bar install, and there was only a slight buff from where the rubber touches the paint. That is after 15,000 miles of driving.

I have had Bushwacker flares on several vehicles with no problems. If you are really worried about paint damage, install the 3M invisible tape that is used in other places between the flare and the paint.

That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.
