Head studs.

I'm looking to pick up arp headstuds for my truck. I looked on eBay they seemed to be the cheapest and look to be arp. They are like 750 through II which seems pricey. Where is everyone getting studs from?

Big Swole 08-15-2011 09:27 AM

$750 for which series??

If its the 625's , then thats like Cost!!

Ftr, if you're going to do studs just go ahead and do 625's and be done with it!

625's are the best!

southpawslingr1 08-15-2011 09:47 AM

No the 625s are like 1500. I can't swing that after spending five grand on turbos injectors ect...

southpawslingr1 08-15-2011 09:51 AM

Actually the 625s are 1900 no way I can drop that coin.

Call Tim @ TRE diesel, i believe he quoted me like a grand for 625's a month or so ago.

If cost is 750 they are making some serious bank on those studs. Personally I find it ridiculous to pay two grand for studs but I also don't know what goes into fabricating them.

IF we knew we probably just get more upset. I doubt they have even have $200 in them. They aren't hand made out of gold. They are just popular and people pay the price for them. You can still blow a head gasket with them all.

Yup, I agree 100%. I would guess they have way less than $200 in them, probably more like $10. I can't understand for the life of me why they cost so much. It's completely absurd.

How much of a difference do the 625s make? I figured the regular ones would be beefy enough for me.

Big Swole 08-15-2011 09:31 PM

Wow!!!

You need to PM me your number so I can text you a vender that can get you ARP's WAY less expensive than what you posted!

Do NOT pay those prices!!

Big Swole 08-15-2011 09:35 PM

And FTR, 625's vs the std arp studs is Huge!

Not saying you'll need 625's but in all my years of modding, I've found that if you do it right the first time, you'll actually save money in the end..

I never planned on getting to 850+ HP either, but glad I had 625's when I did...!

What horsepower do you need head studs? I want to do a airdog 150 and a turbo soon, I was told I will need head studs but wanted to know what you guys thought. Thanks

It is based more on boost pressure than horse power although they go hand in hand. They say the stock configuration will handle 40 psi of boost. Take it with a grain of salt though. There are lots of other factors that need to be thought about. The best thing to do is if you plan on going big, plan on head studs. Heck, even a stock truck can have the studs, it is just extra insurance and more reliability!! There really is no set number for boost or HP that says here is when you need to do studs.
