Yes, I do refer to the "computer" they plug in. This is high end stuff (not the $200 scanner from the parts store) that factory techs use to diagnose problems.

My 2004 5.9 2500 started having the same problem this winter and our winters are nowhere near as cold as yours. I also replaced the filters, and heaters (one in the filter canister and the heating grid on the air intake). Nothing has worked. I would have to use a teaspoon of unleaded on the air filter to get it to start. It would then start easily and normally for the rest of the day. I only had to juice it on the first start of the day. Early this month I was able to stop using the juice, but the first start of the day is still a hard start requiring about 20 seconds of cranking with the rest of the day being normal starts. The truck runs perfect otherwise and has just over 230,000 miles on it.

That is interesting Jemenek. well to update last weekend i replaced the PRV with an after market from puredieselpower.com. Also took the COV out of the CP3 pump and cleaned it real good and put it back in. Turn the key and walla! It started right. Went that way all week end. I just kept turning it off and on again and started every time.
Then it set Monday through Thursday morning and i went to take it to work and completely no start!!! Just turned over. Now i am really baffled. I have not tried unleaded gas or ether yet but might try and see.
Anyone have a clue?
Soulezoo i have not found someone with a scanner to plug into as of yet.

Sundance,
That is what mine was doing. It would start fine time after time, but let it sit overnight and I would have to prime it again. I am getting 5-7 second starts now after sitting overnight, but we are having 85 to 91 degree daytime temps. If you need to juice it,
turn the key on
open the hood and open the air cleaner
pour about a tablespoon of super unleaded on the air filter
close the air cleaner
start truck.
I avoid ether because I have seen some bad things happen when using ether. I was told the problem was my injectors getting dry while sitting overnight, but that does not explain why my truck is starting now. When I can afford to take it into 4 horsemen performance, I will post what they tell me.
Good luck.

I did more research last night and thinking it could be my fuel pump. I am confused though. Does my truck have fuel pump in the tank ( i hear a noise from tank when i bump the key) or does it have pick up pump behind canister ( looks like one there) or both?

Can i just install an in line fass pump outside the tank or do i have to remove either of these existing pumps or replace them?
Guess i should do a pressure test on fuel rail but do not have gage.
Any help appreciated

So i installed pressure gage from glowshift. Pressure is 10 and 5-2 when on it. So guess pick up pump is fine and it is in the tank.
