They're real easy. As soon as you drop the pan and look up at the valve body you can see the old one. I believe it's 4 torx bolts and two electrical connections. If you get the beefier one from PATC they have really good directions that come w/ it.

Do you have a web site for that part? What does the beefier one do the oem doesn't? I'm having trouble with mine and that it doesn't let my truck downshift into od unless I'm under 55mph. Sucks!
Look on the post above. You do need to drop the pan and I belive there are two torx screws and 3 or 4 7/16 or 3/8 bolts.....may as well as change the sensor at the same time if you do it....2 electrical plugs. AS easy as an oil change.

If I remember correctly, this kit replaces both the solenoid and the sensor. Also, this is a problem on both the 47RE and 48RE.
This definitely cured my 1-2 shift hunt.
I have a performance VB and yeah it's giving me grief right now thats why i started this thread. Tomorrow im getting the sensor and replacing the govenor solenoid and sensor hopefully it works.
I just changed mine out this past friday. Fixed my 1-2-1-2 hunt...
I ordered it from transmissionpartsusa.com ($40)
There are 4 bolts and two torx screws that hold the solenoid/plate in, undo them all the pull it down and pop the old one out and replace, make sure you slip the bracket on the side over the little plastic sensor(transducer?) then bolt it back up.
I also adjusted my bands as well(have to have the filter off to do the rear band)
