There is likely a problem with that truck. It is about 9k too cheap compared to several dealer prices. See if the owner will take a photo of the title on top of the day's newspaper showing the date.

staarma 10-06-2011 03:13 PM

That's a tad high as far as pricing goes around here for what it is. It may be worth it if it is a one owner with no performance mods and documented regular maintenance. I'd offer $19k and go from there.

It's a bit low if it's a private seller. Way low if it's a dealer.

If you have all the stats Kelly Blue Book it.

Here is mine from 6,000 miles ago...

I did mine, I have 62K miles and a couple of inexpensive items not listed in the sig (2006 QC 4X4 A/T SLT)

Private Seller "Good" condition @ $27.9K

Dealer lot would be $31K

Trade-in $22-$23K (Can't remember exactly).

I guess when I got my 06 a year ago with 35,353 for 24,500 I did ok.

i paid 20k for mine with 87000 miles on it, but then after 500 miles the trans went out, haha but then i paid pretty much the normal price and gota brand new trans.

Don't know where the ad is from, but around here that's about 4-5 lower than average... BUT??? Every now and than a person gets lucky, bought my step-dad a hunting truck the week before last. Been half keeping an eye out for something reasonable, but not looking too hard.

Went onto craiqs list that morning and found a '95 1/2 ton ford 4x4 that sounded pretty good. Spoke with the guy, he was the original owner. Said he had all the records and it was a nice solid truck. Sight un-seen said I'd be done in a few hours to take a look.

He held it for me, he had EVERY receipt and had records of everything he'd ever done to the truck. Spotless inside, good shape outside.

1100.00 bucks :)

Those prices are pretty high I think...

I paid $34,000 for my truck brand new, 0 miles (had Dodge green sheet). I can't imagine it still being worth $20K today....

It is, depending on mileage. Go blue book it. You have 2 things in your favor, Diesels hold value very well and you have a 5.9L.

The older 03-07 5.9 trucks values have went way up...LOL it is crazy.

flytrip 10-10-2011 06:41 PM

Seems about right to me, in this area. I sold my '06, just like that without leather and nav 6 weeks ago for $23k. 86k miles.

Spooler 10-10-2011 08:43 PM

My trucks trade in value on KBB is 22,000 and private sale price is 25,000.

FunFinder5 10-14-2011 09:12 AM

This is depressing. I must be doing something wrong. I've been batting around the idea of selling my truck for sometime now because I just don't need it anymore. I've had it in craigslist for like 3 months now, not a single bite. Starting price was $13,900 - current price $11,500. I've pretty much decided if I can get $10,000 out of it I'll be lucky!

My thoughts are the general public has phobias with vehicles over 200k. Don't know why... It's just about the same as buying a gasser with 80K on it.

staarma 10-14-2011 09:48 AM

The problem is the public's idea on high miles. They don't really understand.

The other problem is looking on blue books is great and all until you actually try to sell the vehicle for book price. Good luck with that. My truck is worth about 20k like it or not. It just turned 60k on the clock, all records and oil samples from Blackstone and a dyno graph. No money for any extras as that the way it goes. At least that's the market around here. It changes if you find the right person.

Spooler 10-14-2011 12:07 PM

Yeap, all the extra's are the next persons freebie's. You get nothing for the mods. As far as high mileage, anything over 100,000 miles can be tough to sell. Just the way it is.
