Need to get my 2003 2500 smogged, took it to two smog shops failed due to check engine light on. Never noticed light on before taking it to the smog shop.

Check engine light comes on when key in on position but turns off once truck is started.

manual code test done with key cycle - all lights illuminate all lights go out except for the engine light - reads: C code 00 00 then done

monitors are reset according to both smog shops but engine light will not go off.

normally run a superchips programmer, this has been set back to stock and removed. Same process as I do every other year when smog required with no issue

When plugged into DRV(dealer code reader) it registers no codes 21 key cycles since reprogrammed to stock.

Thought we might need to drive it a while to get engine light to turn off, took it on a trip 250+ miles there truck off for approximately 3 hours and drove home with a stop for fuel on each leg of trip. No luck engine light still on when key in on position, but goes off once truck is started. ?!?!?!?!!?!?!? I have driven it to work the last two days 23mi each direction. No change.

Plugged in to DRV at dealer again and did a flash update that was indidcated. No change still

Any idea what could be causing engine light to stay on and how I can get it to turn off so I can get the smog?

unplug the batteries over night and see if it clears the light

Did this issue ever come to a conclusion? I'm having the same exact issue word for word.
