G56 clutch quesitons
G56 clutch quesitons
Hello again, still trying to bone up on my G56 knowledge as much as possible. Is it possible to get a stronger clutch w/o flywheel swapping? It seems like a heavier duty clutch would stress out the springy hub on the flywheel. My previous truck slipped with the superchips, but others on here have put the SC in and not slipped. My other truck I loved doing the 3rd gear clutch dumps, but that truck was a bit of a beater. I can't see myself doing that in this truck. I put a ceramic in my other truck, it worked great, but the jerky reverse was trouble for the wife. The thread on the G56 conversion with the input shaft not going in all the way kind of freaked me out.
I would love some input.
Thanx.

In order to get a better clutch in the G56 your going to have to dump that flywheel. I don't know why Dodge insisted on trying them, Ford and Chevy both have done it and they're all crap and expensive to replace. Don't worry about input shaft engagement with a South Bend, they've done their homework. (unlike other clutch mfg. obviously.)
Thanx Zilla. Hey faulkner, my friend had a 93 Diesel GMC with the NVG4500. He did a clutch change that ended up being really expensive. The flywheel had like a rubber hub that was all cracked.
Thanx guys.
