I just wanted to pass along an FYI from Edge that i just found out...

I guess I have the older version of their box for my truck ('04.5 2500). I've been seeing funky EGTs for the past couple days and I had DDP look at the truck who said the problem is with my box.

I spoke with Edge and they agreed in thinking it’s an issue with the box itself but they wouldn’t know for sure unless I paid the $50 fee to have them test and update it since it is so old and out of warranty.

However the rep said that they redesigned the box in mid-’06 and changed everything including adding a turbo timer feature built in. The guy I spoke with said that for $250 they’d give me a brand new (not refurb) box and monitor with all the latest and greatest and new warranty! The box retails for $899! He basically said they offer this to anyone who has an old box that they aren’t happy with. Typically they charge $350 but he said since I drive a Dodge and he does that he’d knock off $100 for the Dodge crew.

I think I’m just going to do that since it’s a deal that can’t be beat. Figured I would pass along to all so you can tell any of your friends or whoever who have a box showing problems or that maybe just want the turbo timer feature. The box would need to be one where the wires come directly out of the box, where as the new one there is a main harness connection that plugs into the box.

PM me and I will give you the direct info for the guy I talked to who will cut deals for Cummins boys... (don't want to get him in any trouble)

Another thought... Want a new box but don't wanna pay the money? Buy a used old style box, call and tell them that you are having issues with it and then pay your $250 and get a brand new box with new software and features! Is it weird that this idea crossed my mind? ha ha...

That sounds like exactly what mines doing although when i turn the lights on or use the windows or something electrical the egt's go way up. I don't really use the edge for power anymore now that i have the smarty, mainly just use it for gauges but it sure would be nice to have the egt part working again. Not really sure if i want to pay 250 for something i'm not really gonna use though.

 

Is this just for +04.5 or can they do this for 03/04s as well?

 

I did it last year when it was 50 bucks to upgrade it to a brand new box with the turbo timer. Better program, too.
