Fuel Filter Position

Can an auxiliary fuel filter (Donaldson P551313 or Cat 1R-0750) be mounted in a horizontal position and still be effective. This may be done to increase ground clearance.
Thanks John

Thanks John
my opinion is filtering occurs when the fuel enters the filter under pressure regardless of position....maybe i'm wrong

If you mount it horizontally you would likely have a problem bleeding all the air from it. Not sure if that would be a problem.

i think most filters have a drain fitting on the "bottom" to drain out any water that may have been introduced in the system!
so it must be mounted vertically

The fuel filters I mentioned don't have drain valves, but I appreciate your replies.

Im sorry to say i dont have the answer because I would like to know also. I definitely have never seen any diesel fuel filters mounted horizontally. I just picked up a 3rd gen and want to add a 2 micron cat and the fass stock replacement pump. I dont like frame mounted filters hanging down because I am often off road for work. There is not much room under the hood either.

This looks like a good mounting option.
