Fried instrument cluster!
I recently installed an egt gauge and tapped the light wire on the dimmer switch like the rest of you.It worked fine when I tested it and the next day I lost my dash, dome and cargo lights. The dealer said that I over loaded my circuit.I asked how then can my friends install 3 gauges w/lights and have no problem?
He said that depending on what your options were, that some had 2 panel dimmer drivers and some had only 1.The ones with only 1 had could handle more current and the ones with 2 couldn't handle much current, thus overloading the circuit.
I didn't think that such a small bulb could draw too much current, but the dealer said that it is very sensative.I have to buy a new $500 instrument cluster!
I'm wondering if I can bypass or make things work w/out buying a new IC,cause I can supply 12 volts to the dimmer wire and have all my lights work properly again except my dome lights are on unless the thumb wheel is scrolled all the way down. The dealer said not to do that cause it might further my issue.
Any exsperts out there that can help?

Be careful with the wires behind the dash on the 06's + I have heard from several sources they use a 5volt signal for everything but the power outlet and cigarette lighter behind the dash.
I have 7 di pricol gauges in my truck and I ran the light wire all the way from the parking light on the headlight inside to the gauges. I have had no problems with this setup.
