Thumbs down Fold-a-cover & Dualcomp liner...Not sold on them!!

Have these Items on my truck for maybe two weeks now, and not completely happy with either one. First off, the fold-a-acover looks good, but MAN, DOES IT GET HOT!!, when its sits in the sun. When I go to open it, i burn my fingers all the time. On the panel over the tailgate, theres two tiny little finger tabs, (at least I think thats what they are) But they arent big enough to do any good. Also, being the stock 2500 Ram's tail sits high, You really gotta reach for the keyhole on the top.
About the Dualcomp bedliner... I thought it was a good idea at first, the ads make it all seem so good. The rubber mat Idea sounded good, but for me, its a pain in the butt. Im used to having the plastic drop in liners, and being able to slide 2x4's and wood in and out, but this rubber mat, stops everything in its tracks. Yea, might be good for keeping stuff in place, but its a big pain whan it comes to sliding big things in and out, especially how high the tail end is.
Ive owned 3 truck with plastic drop in liners, and yea, they do scuff and scratch, but I never had one that totaly destroy my bed.

I'm thinking of getting rid of the liner, and going with a plastic one, that doesnt have the ridges on the floor, thats the only complaint I had with them, kills your knees when you have to crawl around.

If both Items werent so big, and cumbersome to ship back, they would have been returned. I guess you live and learn from experiance!!

Anybody have similar problems or comments??

....Also, anybody know of a good plastic liner, that has more of a flat bottom, and not the ridges like alot of the drop in liners??

After having a drop in plastic liner(dad's truck) and a spray in liner(my truck), I'll never go back to a drop in. It might be a little harder to get stuff out but it's well worth it. No more bed scratching, stuff moving, anything. Not to mention it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Yeah, the Fold-A-Cover does get hot but it's an AWESOME cover. It gives yo capability to lock your bed shut and helps keep the rift raft out of the bed ans stealing you stuff
If yo do't like it then put it up for sale, I'm suer somebody will take it off your hands. Those of us with 5vrs love this cover.

Im probably going to keep the fold-a-cover, Im gonna give it a lttle more time.

As far as the bed liner, I might call the company back up, and tell them Ive been dis-satisfied since day one, maybe they'll offer to take it back.

I understand its nice to not have stuff sliding around, but I dont want to bring a buddy with me everytime I go to home depot, to just get a seet of ply-wood in the bed. I already hurt my back trying to shove wood in the truck, and have it stop dead in its tracks on me. Id rather stick with my good ol' ratcheting bar to keep stuff in place.

Bad Dog. check out bedrug.com. It is a bed liner but held in place by velcro in several places. It is molded to fit the ribs on your bed's floor but having a smooth flooring. AND, it is more of a plastic RUG material so it DOESN'T hurt your knees. Water, gas, just about everything resistant and you can just hose out the back or even vacuum it out if you would like.

I have been checking them out compared to a sprayed in liner. Though I did just find a new DIY spray in liner called Durabak that doesn't seem too bad for the $$. Just don't know anything about them yet.

Angry

I bought a peragon folding cover and I kinda feel the same way.Seemed liked a well built cover made out of solid aluminum and all but the **** thing gets so hot in the sun you have to wear gloves to open it and you talk about a pain in the azz to install.I still have,nt got it adjusted right. Its not even close to water resistant. When it rains everything under it gets wet.I feel like I blew $760 bucks. But like you said we live and learn.

Yea Bama-boy, at least you know what im talking about!! The other day I tried to fold it all the way open, and I couldnt beleive how hot it was!!!!! I'm actually thinking of getting a price on having the cover painted to match the my truck. I fugured maybe the red wouldnt absorb the sun as much as the black, also It would probably look much better the sam color as the rest of my truck, kinda like a painted hard cover.

Badd Dogg guy, go get some line-x sprayed on and be done with it. Forget plastic drop ins or rugs...the spray on stuff is pretty close to indestructable, has a lifetime warranty, and things do slide in and out reasonably easily on my line-x. That cover does sound cool though - hey maybe you can scramble some eggs on it first to cool it down before opening it?
