Flux 2 injectors and Haze

Wanted to ask out there and see if there was any setting I could do or something I could change to get the haze to go away? With my edge juice hot off It will smoke a haze all the time while going down the road, turn it up and it just get worse.

So I took the Edge juice Hot w/att off the truck and now am putting on my TST PMCR R49. And I was wondering if there was a setting that I could run that would help with the haze? Possibly timing? Rail presure? Just wondering.

If I can't find something to help with the smoke I think that I am going to jerk my Flux 2s out and try something different.

Thanks,
snoxracer

I don't get any haze with my Flux 2 while cruising or putzing around - no matter what box setting. Only time they smoke is low rpm throttle application, cold start, or when rail pressure drops off.

Just throwing out ideas here:

Weren't you the one on TDR that had Scheid injectors and they were badly smoking too or was that another guy? If so, were the Flux 2 nozzles swapped out on these injector bodies? If so, could these injector bodies be bad and bleeding pressure before the fuel exits the nozzle?

How's your boost - do you have good boost levels at all times or do they seem out of whack?

How are your twins tuned / balanced - which turbo is doing more work when cruising? If a boost gauge off the cold pipe shows that all your boost is coming off your primary, maybe its like running a big single?

Off-topic - where are those pictures of those twins you said you would post a couple weeks ago?

Yes the fluxs 2 were swapped out on the same injector bodies. If they were leaking wouldn't Don catch that?

Boost is good in most all parts I think, crusing at 70 RPM 1600-1700 boost at 10psi and up.

As far as pictures, I never was able to download them because file too big and I never took the time to resize etc.

And I haven't found anybody with a 04.5 and up that has had much luck with smoke. I see yours is an 03, and mine being an 05 with a 3rd injection event, could that be a problem?

Yeah, Don should catch bad injector bodies, but everyone is human and maybe something was missed. If you could get back with your F1 vendor and express your concerns, I am sure Don will go through your injectors again just to double-check, triple-check, etc. if you were willing to pull the injectors.

Some 04.5+ owners:

jwilliams3 (Pourindiesel on here) replied to your post on TDR a while back stating he didn't have constant smoking / anything out the pipe issues with his DDP 90HP injectors at cruise.

lmills has big Flux injectors - maybe you can PM him or he'll reply on this thread?

On the otherhand, "Tobaccogrower" reported observations with his truck supporting yours.

So it appears that all +04.5 trucks do not react the same to injector upgrades.

I'm not sure about the 3rd injection invent or what that's all about. Are all your ECM reflashes up-to-date?

You did mention you're trying the TST. I've had good, smoke free luck with keeping the Te setting way down and running usually 1x0, 2x0, 3x0, etc. I think with injectors you don't need the Te setting for the low rpm fueling since the injectors will already provide it by virtue of their design.

Otherwise, with your reported boost levels, with boxes turned down, it does seem strange that your hazing / smoking all the time especially with 2 different company's injectors producing the same observations. Something's off...

Thanks for the replys J, I did get my injectors thru Tim Barber and I have spoke with him. He said to send them in and have them checked, but man I am getting sick of pulling injectors. I would like to take my truck to somebody that is familar with these trucks and see what their take is on it. I know that alot of people say John with FLOOR IT DIESEL is a good guy that knows alot about these 3rd gen but I can't seem to get him to call me back. I talked with the Lady that answers the phone there and she said he'd call me back-nothing, so I left a couple of messages for almost over two weeks and still nothing?

So anyway someday I hope to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks again,
Snoxracer

I do not have injectors but my truck smokes very little with a single 66. I think like J said keep your Te down and run the standard setting for daily driving and it SHOULD help the smoke. You could also try the economy setting too, but I dont know how that drives cause I have never tried it.

On a side note, try and be patient with John, he has has really helped me out in the past and most days he is overwhellmed with work that the shop. But Tim is no slouch, I couldnt say one is any better than the other. I know you may want a second opinion but I would take what Tim says as the truth.

Good luck with your injectors.

Yours should not show smoke at idle once it is warmed up. If there is a lot of smoke there is a problem. Most of the time up to a flux 4 will be very clean at idle, even my 5s leave very little idle smoke. Back to your problem usually idle smoke comes from installation or programing. If all your connector tubes and nuts are torqued properly and not damaged, Try removing the juice not just turning it off. If all else fails send them back and we will double check them. Tim

3.3's do not smoke at idle - and no haze. It will smoke without boxes when the fuel peddle is hammered but then the smoke clears. With the boxes on a little smoke at start - no smoke or haze while cruising. When the fuel peddle is mashed it will smoke untill you let off.

I got the Don's 3.3's through Tim and I couldnt be happier. Don was right on about how my 03 would handle them.

Send 'em on down. Strange things happen with CR injectors.

I have a much faster turn around now that we are caught up from our massive backlog.

I know its a pain to yank 'em but hot rods can be a bit finicky. As long as it is not a blazing hot day, I like working on my truck.

The Codes you have P1652 J1850 are for the Communication Bus. Don't know much more about them though.
