Fiberglass Running Boards-Any Good?

I found a set of running boards on ebay for $449 (includes shipping). They are the fiberglass type and come painted to factory color of truck. The owner claims to have a quality product and states they are 1/8"-1/4" fiberglass with a epoxy-coated wood in the hollow areas. He claims they are very strong. For the above price it includes a step for rear bed area of my longbed, also painted same as truck.

It's either these or the OEM plastic style with lights. I need something with substantial stepping area. The tube types don't have enough step area.

Any of you have these fiberglass or plastic OEM types and are you happy with them?

I need steps in a BAAAAAAD way! Too high for wifey!!

I'm 6'-0" and it is a liitle tough for me to get in/out as well.

Thanks

I have had fibreglass running boards with fender flares and am quite happy with them. They have a back step for access to my 5th wheel hitch which is necessary for me. They used long screws when they installed it and one came out. I put bolts and nuts with washers and they are tight now. I believe I paid about $780 installed. There are many out there to chose from. Mine are made by bremen.

Do you take your truck off-road? If so, I would stay away from plastic/fiberglass. You'll be fixen/painting/patching them any time you go off-roadin. Just a thought.

I aggee with buckshot...If you are onroad only then go for it...If not they make stainless steel "running boards" (just saw em in trukin thundar yesterday)...Not sure on cost for them. But if you do any offroad I would go SS (NOT CHROME COVERED ALUM)
