Fastest 1/4 with stock tranny
How fast will a quad cab short box 4x4 auto go in the 1/4 with any mods except tranny?I am wondering because the stock tranny feels really mushy and I am wondering how much of a difference my new D.T.T. is going to make.
Well I couldn't give you any 1/4 times, but the difference is worth the price. My buddy has an 03 with injectors, EZ, intake and exhaust, with a DDT TC/VB and he takes me everytime. Until my factory TC hits lockup, about 3rd gear, hes already to far ahead of me to even try. Before driving his truck I wasn't really concerned about upgrading-was if worth the price?, but after I drove it-it was the icing on the CAKE. Its like adding another 130 HP box, the power to ground is unreal. (most claim another 20-30%) I have to take my Boost up to about 10-15LB before I break loose my 315's. He's running 315's and sometimes he'll have to hit 2nd Gear to finally hook, he smokes them from the start!!! I figured whats the use of me dumping all this money into the motor, and not being able to see its real potenial of hitting the rear wheels??. Botton line mine will be installed in the next couple of weeks. DTT was on back order and starting to ship on Monday again, as soon as It's in-its going in the truck. I will post the results.
tranny upgrade will increase 1/4 mile time by about 1/2 second or more + more reliable. My truck runs a 13.9 with stock tires in 4 wheel drive. In 2 wheel drive it smokes the tires right through all gears.
If I dont let some air out of my tires I can smoke all 4 at launch it's pretty cool when my new website is up and running I'm going to post some video's of some crazy fun. With a stock tranny your losing alot of the power through the tranny and torque convertor slipping the difference on a dyno stock verses race transmission on a modified truck could be a 100 rwhp pending on truck
Ditto here on the 4-wheel (actually, on mine, six-wheel) burnouts. It takes quite a bit to bust all six loose, though. I've only done it twice, and am not real comfotable doing it, because it takes upwards of 20lbs. of boost on launch. No sense in busting parts on the truck without someone's name on the side to pay for 'em
