FASS pump Question
I see this pump mentioned all the time. Will some of you please fill me in on when it is needed, what it adds to a truck like mine, warranty issues, etc? Thanks to all wiser members on this great site!
Your fuel pressure, with a stock lift pump, will fall to 0 psi under WOT. Not much of a problem on a stock truck. Once you add a good performance box, or stack a couple of them, your truck will lose power from the lack of fuel. The FASS will keep your pressure at 16-18 psi and it only drops a couple points when you hammer it.
Im short on time here at the office.....but check out our web site......it will explane a lot....
I will write more later......

Plus, the stock lift pump will likely fail, stranding you somewhere. The Dodge solution is to install the replacement lift pump inside of the tank, which many owner's don't want due to having to drop the tank should the replacement fail.

So, did you remove your stock LP all together, and relace with the Walbro? Or, did you leave the stock LP in place AND add the Walbro (or Fass, etc...)

I then installed a Walbro GSL392, and carry one more as a spare. Pictures are in my Member's Photo Gallery.

If your stock LP fails, your truck will stop running because the IP can't suck fuel through it. The FASS will allow the IP to suck fuel even if it stops working for some reason. That's well worth the $$$ in my book. You just can't drive like a maniac if this happens....
I left my stock LP hanging there (covered up) and all the lines back to the tank. I don't know why because I can't think of any reason I would reinstall it unless I sell the truck.......

YUP....we have a simple ball by-pass that is closed if pressure is present at the check valve....but if pressure is lost, suction will pull the ball off its seat and fuel will flow through both the water separator and filter. This will allow you to get home if needed. Just dont go WOT!! haha....
well, im gonna throw in my $.02
Im hearing more and more stories about failing FASS pumps... I would check into Glacier Diesels Walboro pump. It was enough to steer me away, Im just waiting for Robert to come out with the 05-06 setup.

First you do not have a "gas" pedal
Second, he is refering to 0 fuel pressure at the fuel filter area, where your IP pulls fuel from, you will still have fuel pressure from the IP feeding your injectors. The reason being is there will still be fuel in the fuel filter area for the IP to pull fuel from. Then, the LP has to play catch up and fill the fuel filter area back up with fuel. SO, depending how long your foot is in the throttle, how weak your LP is, will determine how long your IP will last. IN other words, if you run the fuel filter area out of fuel too many times, it can burn the IP up. Make any sense?
I have not heard anything about failing FASS pumps either. One failure story does not make a product bad. Anything can fail, including a Walbro pump. People just started using them on our trucks and I've already seen at least two people with problems. That doesn't mean they are all bad. It just could be install problems. Who knows........
I like my FASS, it works as advertised, it's not too loud, what's not to like?!?! I like my truck to make as much noise as possible.

Mine Shuts Off
The comments regarding the cp3 being able to "pull" fuel through the FASS with the pump off is questionable to me. I have the FASS 150, installed as per DPP instructions (simply hacked into the cigar fuse) and when I try to use my cooldown timer on my TST R49 my truck "runs" out of fuel after about 20 seconds?? I have checked filters and done the bucket test, everything says good except for when the FASS is off, the truck runs out of fuel.
And don't get the FASS 150 unless you really need it. I got one due to the backorder on the 95, the 150 was on the shelf. I should have waited instead, this thing is LOUD. Anyone looking to go to +600 hp with their FASS 95 might want to trade with me?
