The GDP is obviously working for many, so far. But the tone of some here bothers me. Many sound like.... "Walbro is the ONLY way to go".

The lone negative I see to the FASS is the price... but let's not compare the FASS to the Walbro. Lets compare the HPFP (FASS w/o filters) to the Walbro. When we do that, lets compare the brushes in each, and see who is still trouble free in 2 yrs. A good friend, whose knowlegdable opinion I trust, told me there may be a problem with Walbro brushes, as there use to be with FASS brushes - three yrs ago. I want to be clear...I have no personal experience.

My FASS purrs nicely, when I'm outside the truck and can't be pulled down more than 1.5 psi no matter how hard I drive it. I like the air separator, but have no technical reason other than the company demo, to back it up. I personally like the higher flow rate of the FASS, though both systems seem to flow enough for moderate HP. Holding the FASS in your hand tells you the quality is there and explains the cost, to me. Over kill... maybe, but I like that!

Let's not get too opinionated defending our own choices... and let's compare satisfaction levels in a few years when both systems have been around for a good while! I hope we're all happy

WOW! Some of this almost sounds like product bashing.

I can't say anything good or bad about the Walbro, because I've never had one. I have seen pics of installs and read comments here on DTR.

However, I can speak for the FASS HPFP, because I have one. I've had if for about a year and a half now, and it's been the best upgrade to and for my truck that I've done. The kit had everything I needed and the installation was straightforward. Also, I like it because it's an "all-in-one" system, not multipule parts to mount. To me, it is well engineered, rugged and dependable. Yeah, when I first put it on, it was pretty noisy. After awhile, the majority of the noise when away, and now it's hardly noticeable when standing beside it. I have the 95 gpm which is not as loud as the 150, simply because it's not moving as much fuel. If I recall correctly, 150 gpm is a lot more than the Walbo.

I think the FASS is a proven system, and for less then $20 difference would not make buy anything else but the FASS HPFP.

JMHO.............

Hold on now. Those of us who were beta testers of the Walbro when it was in it's infancy had to put up with many posts from FASS supporters who had very nasty tones. Not necessarily on this forum, but on some others in early 2006 (I can think of one in particular). Many posters said that the Walbro was a "gasser pump" that would never last. The poster SUPERDUTY, in particular, (who was the Walbro pioneer), had to put up with lots of grief from FASS system supporters. To be fair, sometimes he gave as much grief as he got, but his Walbro concept was still valid.

Despite the negativity, several of us decided to give the fuel-cooled Walbro a shot. Shortly thereafter Glacier came along with their nice install kits, making it much easier for others to try the Walbro. After thousands of trouble-free miles, the verdict is in, and the Walbro has been proven reliable.

Speaking for myself, I didn't like the higher price of the "HPFP", nor it's air-cooled design with brushes that occasionally get stuck. I've read numerous threads about brush problems on the FASS motors, and other FASS motors that are quite noisy. I've never seen one post about a failed Walbro pump, nor anyone complaining about excessive Walbro noise. If anyone can point me to such a post, I'd be more than happy to read it.

To those that love their FASS systems, that's great. I believe that competition is a good thing, and the FASS had no real competition for a long time. If having a strong competing product doesn't sit well with some of the FASS gang, then I'm sorry, but I'm very happy with my Walbro, and won't hesitate to share my positive experience when someone asks.

I agree with much of what you say... especially about competition being good, about members sharing PERSONAL positive experiences, and about Walbro getting 'trash talk' when it first appeared.
I do think you went way too far bringing up Superduty.... but that's another matter.

I just wish more of us would stick to reporting personal experiences (just as you, and 'HappyGA' do above) and stop voicing opinions about products we have not tried.
