Failing Lift Pump????
I got my first mis-hap today. I was cruising/coasting down the road and the truck just died. I didn't even know it happened until I tried to make the turn in the bend of the road.
I rolled up to the stop light and had to crank the engine several times and after about 5 minutes it fired up and ran like normal. I came home and checked for codes but none where displayed.
Question:
If the lift pump fails, will it throw a code?? I figured that since it was cranking and not running that the computer would have reconized something, but had nothing on the display.
Truck has just turned 30K, and is less then 5K on a fuel filter so I wouldn't think that would be the issue.
thanks in advance,
Dave

My lift pump went out at about 27,000 miles. I diagnosed mine by the fuel pressure gauge I was running. My truck actually ran out of fuel under a load. The computer will not log a code for the lift pump. The truck just thinks you ran out of fuel.

Thanks for the replies guys, I guess I will call the dealer and see what they have to say. BUT I am sure they won't do anything with it until it completely craps out and leaves me stranded or half way across some train tracks or something .
