F.A.S.S 150 on 04.5 anyone have any problems??

I just picked up a F.A.S.S 150 "150gph" to install on my truck, i planned on getting a 95gph model but ended up with the 150, and was wondering if any body is using this model and if there are any problems with the extra high flow rate? or should i try to send this back and get the 95.

I originally installed the 150 and had pretty severe cavitation problems with it. Nothing that would hurt the pump (according to DPP), but definitely irritating as you could hear big air pockets hitting the pump from inside the truck...with the engine running. Turned out the stock fuel pick-up tube in the tank was too small and wouldn't allow it to suck all the fuel it wanted. It was a very noisy sucker to. I swapped it out with a 95gph pump and still has very slight cavitation. Nothing like the 150 and not enough that the average person would notice, but still there none the less. Being a perfectionist, I ended up replacing the 1/4" pick-up tube in the tank with a 1/2" tube and that cured all cavitation 100%. The 95 is also about half as loud as the 150. With a 15 lb spring, I pull the pressure down into the 13s at WOT, so the 95gph pump provides plenty of fuel for hi HP.

The higher flow rate pumps just turn the fuel over in the tank faster. worst that can happen is that you heat up the fuel from unnecessary pumping (unused fuel goes back into the tank).

well i decided to go for the 95gpm F.A.S.S. Jon at city muffler and performance is sending me the replacement and a return label for the 150, service does'nt get much better.

The hard part is looking at this one sitting here and not being able to install it.

I figured the 150 would be ok, but my luck i have a noisey one and the 95 seems to deliver plenty of fuel for what i do.

Thanks for the replies

Rick
