Exhaust sizing???
Exhaust sizing???
well i am looking into getting a new exhaust from mbrp, the 5" turbo back aluminized kit. i currently just have the diablosport predator tune with 100rwhp and 190rwtq. i am planning on getting that exhaust and an AFE stage 2 XP filter and a CFM plus intake manifold. i was told by someone that getting a 5" exhaust on just a "bolt on" truck would hurt my performance in the low to mid power range is this true? do i need to stay with a 4" performance exhaust on my truck?
The least amount of back pressure is what you want with a diesel....go with the 5" and don't look back!!!!
Spool-up and low-end is determined by the size of your exhaust housing and wheel. When I had my stock turbo and 5"MBRP I noticed no difference in spool and low end!!! Go for it!!!

Straight 4 compared to straight 5 doesn't make a difference until 650 rwhp or so. But I like the tone and sound of 5". Going to a big exhaust will not effect any of the low-end or anything like that. That is gasser talk when people say that it does. Now swapping over to a stock exhaust system to an aftermarket (or aftermarket components), will help spool at times.
