you can cut off the muffler, but you have to leave the cat in order to keep your warranty. in the new trucks w/ all the emission humbo jumbo, i believe they are even more strict as to what you can and cannot do. i think i heard somewhere that its a federal crime to fill YOUR truck with reg #2 instead of ULSD. back on topic. i love the way mine sounds w/o the muffler

My understanding is that cutting out the stock muffler loses your emmisions warranty. I was told that even without the "soot trap" warranty is only affected if it is proven to be the cause of a burned valve, etc. (Which I do not see as possible.) However, let it be noted that I certainly do not condone such a practice.
