Edge Juice with attitude questions for towing.

I want a box or programmer for better fuel mileage while towing. I don't want to upgrade any other drive line components. I will not tow at any power above approx 30-40 extra Hp. Just want better MPG, the power is fine stock.

Whats your guys take on the edge juice with attitude for towing on an other wise stock truck?

The following is why I'am leaning more toward the Edge Juice with attitude rather than the smarty which was high on my list.

When used in conjunction with the Attitude monitor you can control the five power levels on-the-fly from inside your truck. The Attitude displays all the information a complete set of gauges would and will automatically monitor and display exhaust gas temperature (EGT), turbo boost and transmission slip and de-fuel the engine to prevent excessive EGT, boost levels or transmission slippage. It also displays 0 - 60 times, quarter mile times and actual speed if you are using non-stock tires as well as a host of other parameters. The Juice communicates directly with the engine's ECM, from which it receives vital engine and fuel system information. This enables the Juice to provide smooth and precise power in real time under any driving condition. Imagine, within minutes you get incredible power gains, an increase in mileage and the equivalent of a complete set of gauges with one simple installation!

The tranny slip, EGT and transmission temp is very important. I like the idiot proof settings so it will defuel. I had guages and power enhancements on my 99 and know that you can not always keep your eye on the guages going up mountains and around curves while everyone one around you is passing and some not paying attention to what they are doing.

In your sig it says 19 mpg at 65 mph towing a 12,000 lb trailer. Is that for real. I have never seen that towing with my mods. If that is your milage I can't see improving. But the power is nice.

That sounds better. It was clearly written I just had a stupid moment. I get 12-13 mpg pulling my 5'er with my mods and that is running 70-75 mph. But mine is only 10,000 lbs give or take a few hundred. The biggest thing is watching the pyrometer. I can hit 1350* easy on long grades even on the low settings and on a stock truck with just the Edge/Attitude I would say it would heat up quick. My milage picked up slightly and the power makes towing nice you just have to watch the egt's and back out when it gets high.

Good information guys, keep it coming.

I'am going to edit my first post to include why I'am leaning toward the Edge Juice with attitude.

Stay away from the edge juice if your looking for better fuel MPG. I had one and my fuel mileage went south. The quad ZXt is a nice tow box and you will get better mPG's Just my .02

If youa re hauling with a box, ANY box, make sure you have gauges. Iwas told I could not haul my 44' Enclosed trailer with my BDPP on the 90 or 130 settings. Well, I hauled on BOTH of them, just paid close attention to EGT's and I was fine. After a few trips, I decided on the 90 setting as the best all around settig for hauling, as my EGT's were lower on the 90.

Now, I have the TST R49AP, and I need a clutch before I can do any hauling with any of my power

I agree, I've had edge on my 04 duramax and my 06 cummins and my mileage decreased when i ran it in any of the power levels other than stock. But I am happy with the HP gains with it. My mileage did improve when I run the bullydog. Another option to consider would be propane....

I am interested in the Edge Juice/Attitude as well... My reasons for having the boxes on has changed in the last few years, I Started out with the TS Ramifier 100hp box, that thing was great, but replaced it for a Quadzilla Xiliraider Standard box for the adjustability. Back in 03, I just wanted the HP and fun factor, now I tow a 13k lb Raptor 5th wheel, and I want safe reliable power, and fuel efficiency. Now I have to choose between keeping the quad box, and possibly adding the Commander, or swap for the juice/attitude...

Also, does anyone know what is the preferred setting for towing on these boxes ? I also really like the safety features built into the juice/attitude (defueling on high EGT or Tranny slippage)...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

I have towed with my Juice on level 1 and 2. The milage was up maybe 0.5mpg for me while loaded, but it is up 1-2mpg while running empty. Worth it IMO.

Any '06 built on or after June 2006 can't use Edge ...yet. Check your door for build month. Mine is a June 06 mfg date and I have contacted Edge just to make sure and was taold there is nothing available. Maybe March.

I have a juice w/att on my 05. I hauled a load weighing over 24k (trailer and freight alone) 300 miles and averaged 14 MPG. This was a low swung but heavy load. This was done on the tow setting, EGT's stayed in check (1200 or less) but I only ran about 60 MPH max. On the way back I was a little lighter (20 k) and was able to run as fast I wanted (65-70) and got around the same MPG. Overall I am very pleased with the juice, it serves its purpose well and didn't drain the wallet to get. Still haven't tried out #5 tho, #4 is scary strong.

Yea, but you guys have a little more motor under the hood than I do. I have the lowley 235HP SO, (that was all I could get in MA in 03) so I am starting out 75 to 100 hp less than many of yall...

Another question I have on the Juice, If I get an aftermerket torque converter, will the juice still be able to detect converter slippage ?
