Dyno numbers for 03 SO

I finally made it to the local dyno to see what I have gained with my last modifications and thanks to John Porterfield being there I found I had another thing to deal with, defueling!!!. I had no idae what defueling was, I always thought it was my truck shifting gears, but I was actually defueling. I found this out by taking a ride in John's 24v. I wish I would have found this out sooner so I coulD have bought and installed the anti- defueling device. Oh well I guess that is how you learn.

Dec 4th of 2004 I had 278hp/493 tq, this was before the tranny work and the Super "B" turbo. All I had was the Ez box on 4. The new numbers are with the TST as well as other mods mentioned above:

1. EZ 4 TST 0/0 288hp 544tq
2. EZ 4 TST 5/5 409hp 812tq
3. EZ 4 TST 7/7 423hp 816tq (Boost hit 44psi, then dropped)
4. EZ 4 TST 8/6 363hp 774tq ( and a whole lot of smoke )

I think once I get the defueling taken care of I should be able to bring the torque up a little.
The exhaust temps did not reach 1300 during the runs. The Super B did it's job and it wasn't as costly as others. BD and Kyle at Extreme Diesel helped me work out the installation and both offer great customer support. Again a great deal.

Great runs tonight, Tom!! Dad called me and told me the results. Gimme a shout when you get your RAD box and I'll give you hand with the install. Sorry I couldn't make it down there to hang out, but I'll see ya at the rally (or before!)

Don,
it was on our local Dynojet. Wayne "dynoman" is the owner... he posts here on our local rally threads most of the time.

Don
Maybe some one else can chime in on the type of dyno, I have no clue. I have only run at one dyno, Wayne's here in Jacksonville, NC. I do know there are different ones though.

John,
Thanks for the offer, you and your dad will probably be the first people I call when I get it in.

Ah yeah...King D. He bought himself an 05 Cummins powered Dodge lately I hear. The numbers are good. Mark makes a great box...not bad for a so called hacker. LOL

Tom:

Thanks for the invitation to come down and watch you re-dyno your truck tonight!
And congratulations on the numbers you put down Tom!!! 145 H.P. more from what
you put down originally with just your Edge EZ! I am happy for you Tom.

---------
Don:

The dyno Tom ran on was a Dynojet 248C with the updated Version 7 Software.
It is the same dyno Tim Barber made his runs on back in December when he was
testing those Mach 7's of yours. As "banshee" said, the owner is Wayne Murphy
of "Waynes Dyno and Performance" just outside of Jacksonville, N.C.. Wayne has
given the N.C./Va. DTR Diesel Group alot of support and I for one appreciate all
of his help and consideration.

You mentioned "Jess" in your post. That is Jess Spruill (kingd). And you are right
Don, he is the one who just bought the 2005 Dodge CTD CR. He also has one fast
Duramax!

Thats great it was DynoJet.

I found that as long as the DynoJets are in the same elevation, they are very accurate from dyno to dyno. I have limited dyno data on the SO trucks with the TST and TST/EZ stack. It just so happens I had a guy dyno a few weeks ago at sea level and he had on SO truck with the same sized turbo and the TST.. He used some injectors I built him. I was glad to hear the DynoJet numbers from Goodys SO. I helps me gage whats going on out there.

Nope, not 550. I dont think it will, but it could probably hit 525 easily. He had a TST set on level 8/5 and a ramifier with the **** or whatever it has set on pretty conservative. His stock clutch would slip with anything higher. He made 503 HP. The SO is a pretty nice engine for mileage but I dont think it will put up the numbers the HO will. At least not yet

He used the HT2B turbo. Twins would add some more to those numbers, Im certain.

Not bad. Very respectable for a truck that put down 190 to the rears stock and a single turbo.

I'm confused though. If the SOs have the same injectors, same rail, and same injector pump as the HOs (talking 03/04 HOs), why can’t we get to the same max power? We should ultimately have the same amount of fuel available, right? I understand we may need to stretch duration out or crank up the rail pressure a little more than the HOs in order to empty the rail, but we should be able to get there. What am I missing?

Well, I'm #3 on Rip's list, so hurry up with my injectors and we will see.

I think everyone will see that the SO's are the real HP makers... And the temps are low for the power

Check this:
Sradke - 503+ hp
Tomeygun - 437hp
Goodys1ton - 423hp
And you KNOW DriverNo8 will be close to 500hp (with the turbo and stacked)

And all with just boxes and a turbo

(and you can keep your fancy "600's" with that goofy retarded timing )

WE ARE "Standard Outputs", HEAR US ROAR!!!!!!! hahahaha

Seriously - It seems the SO's gain a TON real quick... I wonder sometimes if the stock timing has anything to do with the whole picture (and why the HO's run so hot at the same power level??)

yep, it is all the same, except the ECM programming. Once we change the ECM differences we fix the power differences.
