dry filter and s&b intake

Does anyone know what dry filter to put in my s&b intake box on my 2005 ram H.O. cummins. Do the dry filters do as well as the oiled ones and were to get, and best prices.

I will be watching your post as I would like to install a Dryflow filter on my S&B Intake.

Yes, keeping an eye on this one too.
Might just order a cleaning kit and spare element from S&B though...

Check out the Amsoil website.
I believe they have what your looking for and they are dry type fliters.
I replaced the Airraid dropin filter I had with one and am very pleased with it.

How "well" does he S & B filter I wonder? Or any oiled filter for that matter.

Being my usual useless self, I will add yet ANOTHER question to this thread; Does donaldson make a "nano" (or whatever) dry media filter that will fit into the
S & B?

I looked at mine when new and thought "Ah,...... I bought a K & N".

What about AEM, don't they make a dry element that will work?

I used the s&b for a while with the Aem Dryflow Filter. The Amsoil Nano filter was much better than the dryflow. It was also a bit larger and I had to fiddle around S&B to get it to fit. I used the Amsoil universal filter # EaaU4095.
The Aem is 4" flange opening by 6" wide and 9" long. The Nano is about 9" wide at the base is 6" wide at the end and is also 9" long.

NB, you have pics of the AEM inside the S&B in his gallery, none of the Amsol though, so how hard is it to get the thing in there?

Yes it worked.I only had the amsoil in for a few weeks before going to the AFE (stage 2) PRO Guard 7. There was an inch or so gap between the box and the fender. I only used one bolt to hold down the box (S&B) so I could pivot it away from the fender. I then removed the inner plastic panel (the one with the small square hole). This allowed the the larger filter to sit inside of the fender. I also used a rubber seal from a garage door commonly sold at the home depot and added some snaps to the box and the seal. But with the even larger filter I still had a gap. But part of the filter was now directly in the air flow. It was worth the effort though.

NB...so you had to modify the airbox mounting so the amsoil filter would fit? Or the AEM dryflow? Just a bit confused....would like to try out a dry filter for heck of it...

Sounds like a shorter filter would work without cutting the box?

Looking at the amsoil filter specs...it looks like filter #s EaAu4070 and EaAu4075 would work as well and they're a bit shorter as well. Both have 4inch flanges that are 1.5 and 1.75 inches long.

The 4070 is 7" long and the 4075 is 7.5"....I would think those should fit nice in the S&B box.

Correct please if I'm wrong

I had to adjust the box slightly for the AEM filter which I already owned. That is where the rubber seal was used (Pictures in gallery show this set up). I then purchased the Amsoil and had to adjust the box a little more. I just had to rotate the box away from the fender. Soince I used only one bolt (instead of the two supplied) this was easy. I removed the inner plastic fender well to allow more air than the small square opening provided. There was no cuttng involved. The entire fender side of the S&B box is open.
