Drop-in bed liner owners please respond?
For those of you who have under-the-rail drop-in bed liners...
If you have ever replaced the liner for a new one because of wear:
How did the bed look after the original liner was removed?
Did it keep the bed in good shape?
I'm curious how well the liner protects the bed over a few years.
Thanks,
DT.

Have had two previous liners before the present one. Both ended up with slight scuffing and a few small bare places. I took them out whenever I thought about it and washed/waxed inside the bed. Current truck had one in it when I bought it, and bed was already toasted past really caring about it.
Next new truck will have line-x or something else applied as soon as I take delivery.

I had the same results as sherod. What I do now is to line the bed with weatherstripping everywhere that the liner will be touching the bed. I haven't had this liner out to look the bed yet but I'm sure it's better than it would be without the weatherstripping......

You couldn't give me another drop in liner. I have one in my 98 Toyota Tacoma & it has scuffed the bed & rust has developed because of it. Nothing stays put without slidding around unless you secure it some how. Got a spray in liner in my dodge when I bought it & looks as new as the day it was sprayed in. Speedliner from the dealer $350.00 & that included over the rail.

I have a drop in type that has a place for a 2x4 going cross ways to prevent sliding cargo. I carry tool boxes near the tail gate and they never move. Maybe its just my model bedliner. I really like the spray on ones. WOW are they nice!

I took my pop in liner out thursday. Had a couple scuff marks behind the cab. It came in the truck. Bought it 4 weeks ago. Went friday and had a Rhino Liner sprayed in. Very nice job. They sprayed it a 1/4" thick in the bottom. Guess what, nothing slides around anymore.

Rhino liner or something similar and a rubber truck mat for ppl that carry loose things in the box.
You couldn't pay me to put a box liner in my truck, your better off to run nothing and have it repainted!!

I had a rubber bedmat in my 98 and I pulled it out before I traded it in. I had to cut it a little because the wheel wells are not the same as the new truck but nothing slides around on the rubber mat.
The spray-ins are sweet but I got my drop-in for free so I will deal with it. The truck's got crappy paint and it will have to be repainted in a few years anyways so who cares about a few scuff marks.......

Don't know if it counts for you, but took the bedliner out of my Dakota after six years and whiler there were scuffs, it was nothing that had worn through the paint. For what I use the liner for it is advantageous for me to be able to just pull it out and drop a new one in without worries.

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
I took my drop in liner out after having the truck for about 6 months. I didn't have any bare spots yet, but the tops of the rails in the bottom of the bed were scuffed up pretty bad. I'd take one of those 3/8" thick rubber mats over a plastic drop in any day of the week. First pick of course would be Line-X or Rhino.
