Downfalls to nos?
This is what I use.
You can't even feel it come on (other than your eyeballs flatening
) ......It's that smooth.

If you want to get serious, a progressive system is the only way to go.

MP8 adds no timing.
Couldn't tell you about the BD, but if it rattles before the nitrous it would be a bad thing to add nitrous to that mix.
Fuel economy tunes and nitrous do not generally mix.

Hitt'n Switches?
You can use a progressive controller to do it. The cheap way of doing it with 2 hobbs. You can get hobbs that are normally closed or normally open. (you'll need one of each). On the ground side, use a normally closed hobbs. On the positive side, use a normally open hobbs. This way at low boost it will turn on. When you reach the setting of the normall closed, it will open the circuit and shut off the nitrous.

So what size of adjustable switch would I need psi wise? There are multiple psi switches. I'll be running the standard diesel NOS system with a 10lb bottle, trying to achieve 70-75hp shots.
As a wise man once said about Nitrous...... Your just putting an expiration date on your motor....
As far as engine/vehicle performance upgrades and mods go, if you haven't broke something you don't know the limits
.
The more fun we have the more it costs in the long run, all depends on how much fun you are willing to pay for
.
I am getting real close to ordering the NX kit

so what nx kit is good for our rides i want to be able to buy one kit and be done with it im not looking for 400hp shot just enough to play with and have some fun i will be going twins in a bit so must be able to be used with my twins.
haha thats quite true as well, but i dont think the smarty will do to your engine what a 300 shot of NO will... as a personal preference, i will not use it... i'll have too much money in my truck by the time im done with the build.. and i am a true horsepower kind of guy.. i dont believe in NO to put numbers down.. if you put down 900HP w/o NO, you know you'll be able to get 1200 w/ ease out of it, so why would ya??... JMHO...
the pursuit of hp is why u do it heehhehe i agree i want as much as i can on fuel but i dont have deep pockets so i need to cheat when i can and on a mec. level none of these motors are built to put up huge numbers sure they can take it but they were not built by cummins to be laying down 600+hp that is also why we know when we start this down this road kiss your warrenty goodbye.
I could care less about HP, my goals are always lower 1/4 ETs. I do believe that a NX kit setup right will help me spool the SPS66 at the line and keep EGTs down on the track. For me it is cheaper than twins and I would only use it at the track.
I have soooo muuuch money in this truck now I would cry if I toasted the engine, but I never have any common sense as far as money is concerned. I was the same way in the 60s when I custom ordered a '64 Ford 427/427 Galaxy 500. Proceeded to blow the engine the third time at the track. So far I have 90k on the Cummins and it has seen a lot of track abuse.

True
Add nitrous to lots of fuel, with too much timing, and meth and you can kiss you rods goodbye.
Enthusiastic jetting with instant on nitrous kits does its fair share of damage to turbos and whatever from backfires so if you buy the economy setup be careful!
On the other hand there are lots of us haywire guys running big Hp nitrous setups that haven't lost motors (to spray).
Stacked economy electronic boxes kill more diesels than all the nitrous setups put together....And they will do this at under 500hp.
We are coming out of the dark ages of Diesel/Nitrous tuning.
There is quite a bit of information out there on setup and tuning and there is no reason for a nitrous failure....Just ask before you pull the trigger!
