Cool Differences

I am planning on installing a few gauges on my 06. Until than I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much of a difference there is between the factory temp gauge and what the actual EGT is?

Sorry, I think I need to clarify my question.

I know we're talking about two different areas, what I wanted to know was the difference in the reading of the stock temp gauge and EGT.

I wanted to estimate what my EGT's are now based on my stock temp gauge. I will be stalling a few gauges soon.

are you talking about using the coolant gauge to estimate egt?

there is no relevance between the two.

No trucks come stock with EGT gauges. I think what you are refering to is your coolant temp gauge (radiator fluid). Exhaust Gas Temperature gauges are mounted in the exhaust manifold to measure the air temp coming directly from inside the engine.
They are two very different gauges with two different meanings.

If your cooland does get to 1200-1400 though it might slow your truck down ever so slightly. Dont let your coolant get over 1199 and you'll be ok.

Yeah, what they said. I know, it's tricky.... Keep at it, you'll be a bomber in no time.

Thanks for al the info. I thought there was a way to monitor EGT in a round about way (cheap). Guess I need to go out and get a few gauges installed.

By the time you noticed anything out of the ordinary with the coolant temp you would have a boat anchor under your hood.

Separate gauges for separate tasks. If I were to do it over again I would look at the Quadzilla Commander. With it you can monitor up to 7 different things and display your choice of 4 at the same time.
