Difference between exhaust tips

OK , I going tomorrow morning (Saturrday 30th) to get a magnaflow muffler and 5" tip put on my truck. Hopefully they are open. I didn't call today and ask but surely they are. I decided to just use the existing pipe since my truck is new. I decided against duals. I have one more question. What difference does it make between dual wall and rolled edge on the tip? I understand the obvious which is looks. Besides that what other differences are there? Please discuss.

Double wall isn't necessary unless you get a chrome tip because it will discolor from the heat. Stick with stainless steel - looks just as good and lasts longer. Easier to clean as well. Rolled edge will resonate the sound in the tip a little more and gives a nice added sound ( not necessarily a lot louder ) Straight edge angle cut tip will probably keep it the quietest. (notice the stock exhaust is cut at an angle for that reason)

I was looking at the rolled edge angle cut SS 5" tip. That is what my dad has on his and it sounds great. I just didnt know the difference in them. It sounds as if what I was looking at is the best way to go. Here is the link

That's about what I have. Price on that one is good too. I went to the local shop I deal with and they cut a few inches off the factory pipe and moved the tip on the pipe to where I wanted it while a watched. Once I said I liked it they buzzed it on with a welder and I drove out the door for about $90. Wish I had my own welder - could've saved some dough.

Yeah I had the 5in put on 2 days after i bought the truck. I thought the 6 would look to big on the stock truck and i didn't know how long it would be til i lifted it. A couple thousand miles later I lifted it and now I want a 6in.

My 4" x 6" is 18" long and looks great. I'm glad I went with it.
