Can I also mention that I bought the truck in my sig with a sticker price of over $43,000 and my boss bought a F**D with far less options than mine and it had a sticker of almost $46,000. Same chassis style, diesel, auto, 4wd, crappy motor and more $$$???? Not to mention After taxes tags and title fees on both trucks he paid almost $44K and I only shelled out less than $39K. So we could say the price is another difference between the two.

I know my opinion is biased and so is this site but all I can say is after towing a 7k # + trailer with the bosses powerjoke all day for 300-400 miles, the highlight of my day is parking it and climbing into my cummins.

223,the other thing, and probably the most damning thing about the 6.0 is the head studs or lack there of. they only have 4 per cylinder and they WILL pop the head gasket in stock form let alone bombed. my buddy is a diesel mechinac at a local ford dealer and u woulded believe the stories he has about the 6.0. u have to pull the entire cab of the truck to replace the head gaskets, and hes done so many that he says he can pull the cab off in an hour.

Heard that. Happened to my boss with an '04 PSD. Blew the head gasket and lost power and started leaking coolant. Took it to the dealer and had it fixed under warranty and heard the horror stories from the tech. Unloaded that ***** the very next day. Not to sure what he was smokin when he bought the '06 last year.................

AnniVADER, Yep, the numbers are accurate since Robert Cook and his F350 Dually were in the Diesel Power Challenge and we all read it . All I can say and I've owned all three of the diesels in the last 5 years is that I'm in a Dodge, I own 3 motors, a Cummins 5.9 is an upgrade option in a F650....from the normal Cat engine. I'd rather breakdown in a Cummins on the side of the road as at least there is a chance you could fix it there or in somebodies garage without major plastic removal tools. The powerstroke tranny is held together with aluminum rivets on the main planetary and oh yeah, You girlfriend likes your big rig better than her ex's.

well we will start by compairing the inline 6 to the v-8 like stated before the in line 6 has less moving parts and is more efficient. but it is more efficient due to the fact that due to the angle that the cylinder are at on the v-8 there is a lose of power due to the latteral force between the left and right side of the engine. this also causes more ware on the crank shaft and causes earlier baring failures. due to the larger bore size of the cummins you have more surface area for the force created to apply downward pressure on the piston this translates into more torque.

Soap box ALERT!!!

God intended a TD to be in an inline configuration wheather it be 2,3,4,5,6,or more it just is more practicle and more durable as an inline..

there are countless irrigation pumping units that have Cat 3206 , 3406 and some with 5.9l and 6.7l engines that have been sitting in the same place for 25+ years pulling a 12" well along with a generator and doing it in some of the most unfavorable conditions, and will continue to do so until death do us part.

show me where a dmAX or ps has the same track record.

Internation once thought that the 7.3 was the key to the stairway to heaven. so the put it in a hand full of tractor . bad idea not only was it weak, even with the fuel turned WAYYYYYYYYYY up it was terriably inefficiant and this was way back when diesel was really cheap.

also how many semi's have a V-8 or V-anything in it few to none

So what crazy numbers are you making with the rocktech and drop in filter? The two 6.0's that were in diesel powers challenge were my brothers, robert cook, and his buddy tadd layton, they now own elite diesel. Their both pumping insane numbers and they dont have much done compared to the 5.9's that are making the same power. I guess im just trying to say that they all have their strong points and week points. I just get tired of hearing blah blah blah this and that from people that think their cummins with a rocktech sensor and a drop in filter is the baddest truck on the face of the planet

Wow, for being such a pointless post-------you are sure all over it!

I almost bought a 04 F250 with a 6.0 & torqueshift auto trans. The truck was nice to drive. It seemed to ride a little better than the Dodges. It had some get up & go to it.....even in stock form. I liked it & the dealer offered me a decent price. My problem is with the reliability issues. I hear endless stories about turbos going bad & coolant puking. I've even had people who work at Ford dealers tell me that the 6.0 engine sucks. Thats a shame because I like the rest of the truck. If not for that I would have bought one.

600 hp..........that's great. I hope he enjoys his Ford & does well in the events he enters. I'm more interested in reliability. I'm guessing there are more people using these trucks for work than racing or sled pulling. If the 6.4 does not have improved reliability......Ford will be hurting. At this point it's pretty much truck sales keeping Ford going.

I like the Cummins for its low end grunt & less complex design. If Dodge/Cummins could improve longevity/reliability of the lift pump & cp3 they would have an even better product.
