Diff and Tranny Covers

Which one should I go with, ATS, PML, or Mag-Hytec? Thanks for any help.

They're all pretty equal IMO. I just wouldn't run the ATS cover because of the huge logo on it. I'm not advertising for anyone unless they pay me to. I'm just not one of those guys that puts a sticker on my truck for every part I use. To each his own.

I have used 3 mag-hytec covers...1 on an F150, and 2 on dakotas.

ALL have been high quality parts with NO sealing issues. Very well made; can't beat it. Remember...you get what you pay for. While the PML cover may seal OK, you will eventually have to pull it to replace the silicone sealer on the gasket surface. Mag's uses an o-ring. It WILL last a LOT LONGER!

When it comes time to change oil in my '06, I'll be installing a mag-hytec cover.

I read in some article where they tested a rear diff. with the stock cover & oil & then aftermarket oils & aluminum cover. The temperature drop was surprisingly substantial. I wish I remembered the specifics. Tonight I will look through all my Diesel mags & try to find it.

I thought that the PML covers all used the stock re-useable gaskets on a Dodge.

They do.

I am going to go with the PML decently priced and actually fits and no issue with oil level or anything. Also from what I have been reading use just the raw aluminum one since the the powder coated one is like insulation and it wont cool as well.

I guess with the mag-hytech you dont use all the holes (since it fits GM as well) and there is an issue with oil level if you fill it all the way up. I could be wrong but thats what I thought I read about it on here. I do like the magnetic dipstick with the mag-hytech though.

I have both front and rear Mag-Hytec covers, I like them a lot. They were an easy install. I like the idea of the magnetic dipsticks too, plus, easy to check your levels and also a good place to get an oil sample if you are inclined to have your dif oil tested. I have the Fast Coolers on the tranny.

I've got both diff's and tranny PML covers. They fit great and no leaks with the stock gaskets.

I have the MH DD tranny pan and rear diff cover. I love them...great products. But I don't know if MH ever got there "rubbing" issues resolved on the front covers. Did they?

Hey TexasCTD.

I do not have rubbing/interference issues with my front cover. I think those problems were on the early mfd ones, something about low s/n's in a post somewhere, after a certain s/n they were fine. I have a friend who has an early one, he just trimmed down the fins a little, no interference afterwards. The company offered to replace his with a new one when he called them about the interference. I noticed that my cover has a taper in the fins in that area. I like the covers, easy to install, looks good, no complaints.

So is it true about the rear Mag-Hytech pans not being directly for our CTD's? like you can actually over fill it due to where the fill plug is? I thought I read that on here but maybe they updated or came up with a new one?
