Dif size Flux injectors in one engine!? :S

I figured putting in a smaller injector on the #6 cylinder would keep the last piston from melting all the time (3 times in 1 year)...

Honestly now... I believe a good eye can see the different hole sizes from say flux 4 vs flux 6!

We pulled all the injectors, during the engine rebuild to find out number 6 injector has way larger holes then the other 5 injectors. Almost like comparing a 5 x 0.010 to a 5 x 0.014...judging by the look. Heck our twins wheren't built for a flux 6 injector, nor our almost 7000 feet elevation.
I truly believe DonM mixed them up sometime and sent us a wrong stick! [tapdshut]

Its not to long ago that we sent in the injectors to F1diesel for a checkup and it costed us $900 to rebuild some... we got them back in the truck... the truck ran the same - like crap, since the first startup, smoked blue/white even with a warm engine (i have video) and had an awful injector rattle/knock under normal acceleration with low boost condition, and it burned a piston, during a 1/8 race with TNT-R on Sw 7 Rp=1 Timing =3
[verymad][verymad]

The engine is now done being rebuilt (at a different mechanic) with a sleeved block, and new haisley ceramic coated/teflon skirts pistons!
Edit: Im gonna send in the sticks to DonM and report back, going through Bill@sourceautomotive

Mods:
06 dodge
flux 4
dual evil cp3, stock cp3, modded dmx
TNT-R POD Smarty
62/71/14 and S400 Twins
Helix 2 cam
mp-8 pressure box
water / meth kit

5"exhaust, Banks intercooler
Gauges, and tranny
ran 11s at over 6000' elevation

Are you honestly trying to say Don shipped you injectors that are different sizes? He flow test each set to insure they are balanced.I think he would have cought a mistake by now seeing yours have been back to him a couple of times.

Anythings possible, ive never ordered anything from him(heard good things though) but the simple thing is everybody makes mistakes, i melted a piston @ a sledpull using fluxs, thats why i switched to f1. My old truck had f1s and when i bought my new one i wanted to try fluxs so i did.

Ahhhh, F1 is who makes the Flux injectors for our CR trucks. Don't know what fluxs your talking about....

YOU CAN SEE 0.004" WITH YOUR NAKED EYE?

Well yeah but the fluxs (or f1s) are still different.Plus they where bigger than the f1s i had in my old truck. I ve got stock injectors now because of the more powerful fluxs that melted my piston. THey maybe maid by the same place, but they arent the same.

were you running bigger injectors, and multiple programmers all on a stock turbo?? yours sig says you have a turbo on the way. If so Id say you melted your piston not just the flux injectors.

dodgeramit1 08-08-2009 07:52 PM

yeah mach 5s, and a stock turbo, and 2 programmers. At that time i had the mp8, and the same diablo i have now. Thats why i switched to my stock injectors after i had my engine rebuilt. I just orederd some mach 3s the other day. I already have my turbo, im just wating to put it on.

The mach line of f1 injectors are for VP44 trucks (98.5 - 2002). The line of f1 injectors for the CR's (2003 and newer) are called flux injectors. The mach injectors will not fit/work in a CR.

Let us know if you need any technical help installing those Mach 3s in your common rail! :o

Those do look to be different sizes though....

JFlory 08-10-2009 06:33 PM

If those pics are true, some people on here need not jump to assumptions so quickly. Sorry for your luck, but Don is a stand up guy and will make things right, I hope.
