Did I destroy my turbo?

It appears to be leaking oil at the joint between the compressor and turbine housings. Do you think this is repairable of should I start looking for a good price on a HTT HTB2 62/12? I could always replace it with another stocker since I'm still under warrantee, and I should so close to Christmas. So what could be the issue? Any ideas?

Get the stocker replaced under warranty, then up grade when your ready and you have a good one to fall back on or sell to some other poor sole who's out of warranty.

I had a wife like that too once.

You have to get her buy in and make it a "joint project" like "honey, I'll let you paint the cold pipe pink"

X2 on getting it fixed under warantee...

but you play, you pay. its clearly the mods that caused the failure and this is exactly why trucks cost so much and DC is becoming a stickler about things and denying all the lagitimate claims.

if you actually do this, i dont know how youll be able to sleep at night?

brett

and of course im full of it

Wow Brett, I'd have to totally flip that chart right there...but in "Brokenheartsville" I guess anything with booze in it tastes good.

I'd get a new one under warranty and then get an HTB2 when you're ready. I sold my stocker for $300 to a 12 valve guy looking for a modest upgrade.

Maybe check the oil return line and gasket. I noticed the same thing on my stock turbo, but when I pulled it it was just leaking a little at the return tube.

Will do. Still have that 62/14?

That's the general area its coming from, but what has me concerned is the rubber boost hose coming off the turbo has oil dripping from the bottom of it. There is no sign of oil when looking down from under the hood, only when looking through the wheel well and under the truck. I guess I should just make an appointment and have it checked next week. Just hate visiting the dealer.....
