Dallas Trans guy?

I have been asking around and can only find one guy to do my trans upgrade. I am looking to mod my tranny pretty good, and dont know of anyone in my area that can provide this service, or someone who can reccomend me one. I was wanting to stay with someone local incase I run into any problems.

Im in Dallas TX!

I know Ive been pushing it for a while, but now its getting to be that time!

Jim Jones @ Performance Diesel in Emory, TX is building transmission now too. You may give him a call and see what he can do for you. He has great service even after the sale. 903-473-1144

James Northum is the best-known in these parts for top shelf tranny work... real standup guy to work with!

I've met Jim Jones in Emory - he's seems pretty nice, too.

Well I did talk to James Northum a while back. He does seem like a real nice guy, but is also a little pricey compared to what is available out there. He had a flawless reputation until one of our members on here had some trouble with him, enough to have me look around.

Anyway, How good of work does Jim Jones do? Ive done business with him, but know he is new to the trans world. Im looking for a one stop type of shop that happens to carry one of the brands I would conisder.

Anyone else around???

It's not uncommon for specialty diesel shops to operate on the supply/demand curve - if you get your work done during a "slow" time, you'll likely get a better price and if possible - a better job...

Texas Diesel Power in Weatherford can take care of you. Along with MAC's and Phoenix Transmission does diesel build ups. A buddy of mine got a phoenix about a year ago, running bullydog CL, quadzilla, 120 hp injectors and bigger turbo, and hasn't had a single problem yet. I'm heading to Texas Diesel Power for mine though

Macs Truck and RV Performance in Fort Worth sells and services our transmissions. Very good shop to deal with. John at Texas Diesel Power can get you one as well. Either one will take good care of you.

I am actually thinking of going with a Goerend tranny. He sells his built up tranny for $3750, $600 for Billet Input, double deep pan, and I opted for a cheaper flex plat for $235 instead of $400 for a Billet. This puts me at $5,205, and that is the cheapest Ive found yet.

I have heard many a good result from this site on Goerend trannys, and the price was much lower than what I have been quoted in the past.

Do you guys think this is a good way to go?...he said they are a simple trans to install. He said if you have intalled them before, you should be ok.

Im just sckeptical about going to some of these guys who Ive never hear of. I know I only have one shot at doing this right, so I better do it right the first time.

What parts do Macs and Texas Diesel Power use? Like what brand?

I talked to Jim this a.m. after reading your post, and yes he's a great guy. However, he said he is just getting into the dodge 48re trans, and has not done testing and etc. He wants to test it on some friends trucks first! But he said he could get me a Suncoast? Im not totally sure, but I thought Ive read here on DTR that they are not the best, but ok?

BossHoss, I'm in the same dilema. I'm gonna be getting a Goerend tranny sometime soon & really can't find someone to install it. I almost went w/ DTT thru James because he's only 10 min. from my house but I decided to go w/Goerend & he said he doesn't install them @ this time. Where exactly are you in Dallas?
