We switched to the flapper wheels for the grinders a while back - now there are only 5,000 floating around since they last so much longer.

Yes, I finally found an awesome brand of abrasives. It's a German company called Pferd. Their grinding wheels last about twice as long as the brand we used to use. They make a flap disc that they call a Polyfan. In the 7" size, they are unreal. They take off almost as much material as the grinder and leave such a smooth finish. They are about $15 each, but well worth it.

That thing is STOUT!!!!! Put some niterunner headlights on it, and call it done!

How is it getting in and out? Do you have Amp steps or similar?

Looks great!

The lights are soon on the list, definitely. And I'm looking into making some sort of step that lowers when the door opens, but that's a whole other project. For now, I throw my girlfriend in, then jump!

The very next thing is to make some new blocks for the back. The springs sagged another inch over the trip to texas.

I feel your pain there. I have some 6" Atlas springs as well and they have sagged quite a bit. Of course I have a pro-tech bed box chock full of tools but still. Going to try and put together a long travel airbag setup one of these days. I ended up peeling the stock pack apart and reused the overload (bottom leaf) and the two little shorty leaf spacers. My pickup squats a bit to the rear. I like the factory rake myself.

Great looking rig, and nice work.

I'm glad you mentioned that - I have an update on the springs. I called Atlas, and Fernando told me to ship the springs back (they paid shipping). They only had them for two days before they shipped them back to me. My truck was only down for a week or so. They rebuilt the pack (a little more firm) at no cost to me. Now my truck has the rake that I wanted. I was very impressed with their customer service. Now if I could just get some bumpers on it! The set in the pictures was for a customer (I borrowed them for pictures)....

Next step is bumpers and grille. I got an account with a light company that deals in HID and LED at awesome prices. I'll post some pictures when I make some progress, then finally update the website with the new options and information. I'm thinking a mesh grille insert with an LED bar built in would be interesting...

5100s? I would think something better for all that work. 5160s would be my pick for that truck.

bitchin tho!

You are very right - they are just temporary (since all my driving is on the highway for now). Not to mention I was trying to see how low I could keep the budget. When the time comes, I've got my eye on Don Thuren's shock setup. However, it does ride very nice on the road with the 5100's...

Yea 5100s are nice kinda stiff in the dirt till they heat up.
Dons setup will be sweet on the rig.

Glad you picked the right direction!
