Cummins Embarassed by PowerCHOKE HELP!!!

Well guys I dont know what to say, I felt pretty confident that my megacab was the cats (Do not use symbols for profanity.)!!!!! however he tooled me! (of course this was all on a legal track)

My truck: 2006 5.9 (DUH) MBRP Duals, Cat Delete Pipe (Not installed yet but doubt it make that much diff), Volant cold air intake, Stainless Steel intake Horn, ATS Stage 4 Transmission (I do not have the Co-Pilot Hooked up yet), and my Smarty POD Set on SW7 Torque 4 Timing 3 Rail Pressure 3 (just for this race)

His Truck: 2006 Ford Crew Cab StraightPiped (loud as heck), 150hp Bully Dog Chip.....

Well here goes::::::: We lined up in 4wd both spooled and went when the tree hit green (both with equal reaction times) as soon as we launched he jumped ahead to where his back bumper was maybe 15 feet ahead of my front bumper and then we stayed right there i wasnt catching him and he wasnt running away, till bout 80mph then he moved ahead about another 5ft and that was it I held with him the whole way just 20ft behind his rear bumper......

Heres my question: What can i do to stop this from happening???? I am going to hook up my ATS Co-Pilot (not sure if itll make any diff in time though).

I want to run the smarty on the Revo Tune and Im sure I'll get him then but what do i need to upgrade in order to do it...

I was looking at putting in an Airdog (unless theres a beter aka cheaper alternative) and hoping that would be enough....... however I dont know if the stock cp3 will handle that????

If i need to upgrade the cp3 I would most definately go with the Arson upgrade kit and do the work on my existing cp3.

And lastly if i upgrade my lift pump and my cp3 and still cant take him where should i look??? a set of 90HP Sticks?????

Maybe I'm not even going about this in the right order for upgrades..... hell if i should just slap a different turbo on first or something please let me know... Im very mechanically able I just dont have my hands completely stained with the smell of good ole NO 2 diesel .............................yet [laugh]

Upgrade the lift pump and run the TNT program.

Which lift pump should I go with and why????

I am looking at the airdog (not sure which model), but would a bd auxillary pump work just as good?

Regarding lift pumps, personally, I like the FASS and here is my reason. When I was looking at pumps for my 2000, FASS was the only one that emailed me back stating their pumps would work at -40 temps. No one else contacted me, therefore they get my business, even though others might be cheaper. I can personally vouch that they work at -43.

Thats besides the issue...... could we please get back to the question.... I'd like to know how much of a PITA its going to be installing a new lift pump, which lift pump i should get, etc....

By the way they didnt give me a timeslip because they werent running the clock... It was just straight heads up racing.

rip 112 07-21-2009 11:31 AM

Well I know when I race I wanna know what time and speed I ran. At the same time I can multitask and compete with the guy in the other lane.

Have you tried searching here on the forums for the answer to your question? I've seen many pics and explanations since I've been here on how hard it is to install a lift pump, wars on who is better, Fass or Airdog?, etc. Or I guess you don't want to go searching for your answer, you want it brought to you.

The Airdog is better IMO, it comes with full instructions that can be sent to you prior to you ordering one so you can see for yourself. No it is not a hard install if you can follow directions. There ya go.

So then maybe his reaction time was way better as I am assuming they atleast used the lights to start ya. A little jump on the line makes a big difference.

As far as the pump. There are a couple different brands and the install is going to be based off of your experience to "mechanic". I used the galcier system but the don't sell it anymore atleast I don't think. The rest pretty much use the FASS airdog or self designed systems.

Tell you what bud..... If all we were suppose to do is search for every answer then this forum should be shut down and archived.... im pretty sure every question has been answered atleast once. But you know what its nice to get the new perspective.... i wasnt sure if i should look at getting the airdog 2...... which gph airdog to get..... etc

You know that would never happen. This question has been answered SEVERAL times. I don't mind helping out, but when ppl get cocky when questions are raised it doesn't help. If your question was about fuel systems you shoulda left the racing part out of it if you didn't want it talked about.

The Airdog II is what i would look at, the kit has been redesigned to incorporate some past issues like the fuel canister issue in the fuel tank. If you call Airdog or PM Airdog on the forums you can get some more info on whats involved. I like the lifetime warranty too.
