Crazy Larry w/ Quad Boost Fooler...Opinions?

Ok, so I have caught myself once again doing some shopping and really like what I've read about the QuadZilla Boost Fooler. This mod sounds perfect for my setup.

My question is...who's using the Boost Fooler with Crazy Larry and how do you like it? Big boost improvements? Lower EGTs?

Thanks fellas...this site is absolutely amazing!

..........1st thing, Have u done a tranny upgrade yet? I am running CL w/xzt and love it and would not change it for nothing. Difference is unbelievable with the xzt than w/o. So much more low end and runs cooler b/c of it. When I run just CL it takes a while to get juiced up. When I slap the xzt on it I can hit it in 3rd gear and spin the tires over. With my stockers I can spin them in 4th
...............1 catch though...LOTS of BOOST! 0-60 is only abou 42lbs. Going 65 and pushing it....I saw 46 and couldnt let my foot out fast enough

I used to run this set up...

i saw 48 psi daily for over a month.

NEED tranny upgrades!!

EGT's are as much as 200 degrees lower.

it makes a noticeable difference on the top end.

No tranny upgrades yet. I'm looking at possibly getting an upgraded torque converter and larger valve body when I get my tax returns back but I'm not sure yet...

So you guys are saying NO to the boost fooler unless you have some tranny upgrades? I dont drive my truck very hard at all, its my daily driver and tow vehicle. I keep my truck on the tow/economy setting with the TripleDog as well...no Crazy Larry daily driving for me

The only time I get a lead foot honestly is accelerating onto the interstate/turnpikes around here or my loud-mouth friends start running their mouth about how awesome their 1/2 ton V8 or ricer car is which is few and far between because I've shut them all up a long time ago

I really like the benefits that could be had from this product....

If you don't use Crazy Larry...then yea go ahead and buy a boost fooler. You'll see a drop in EGT's....but the boost fooler really shines with Crazy Larry.

Alright cool 973604x4....yeah I havent even put it on Crazy Larry yet. I'm kinda scared to be honest. I have been driving around on Performance from time to time but like I said...I'm not doing 20 PSI boosted launches in 4WD or anything like that.

Just would like the extra boost for the lower EGTs, power, and drive-ability...

as long as you keep your foot out of it the trans should last, no?
plus it drops the EGT's a decent amount, that's a plus.

Oddly enough, I had to call BullyDog today for a quick couple of questions and I asked them about the Boost Fooler....the tech had nothing but good things to say about it. I was impressed...pretty much sold me on it!

Good luck with it!!!! Quadzilla has had almost zero problems with it....and most problems that do occur are related to the Bullydog...not the Boost Fooler itself.

Did you have any issues with yours? Seems like I searched and read that you had problems with particular versions of Crazy Larry on the Triple Dog??

More input would be greatly appreciated!

yea...everyone is still trying to figure this out.

Most recently, we put a boost fooler on a 06 truck with crazy larry. sometimes the boost fooling works...sometimes it doesn't. change from crazy larry to performance and it will work again....and then change back to crazy larry..it works....

Quad says (and I fully agree) that this is a programming issue on Bullydog's part.

Hey, just post up what I sent you, it will save a gillion pms and that way it is here for everyone to read.

Also when he does this I am not ******* BD for their tuning. What you have to realise is that while you can tune for power there are a million ways these ECM operate their fueling. Unless BD got someone at Cummins to give them the actual source code and an explanation of exactly how it works then there can always be small quirks in tuning. Some are noticable others are not and some are like a phantom ghost, you think it is doing something funny but you cannot get it to repeat often enough.

This will be a repeat sort of but, the fueling MAPs are based on so many things that they can actually change or the multipliers can change all the time. Things like IAT, ECT, Boost, RPM etc all affect the ECM Fueling tables. If these things add up a certain way and the ECM is not 100% retuned like Cummins does it then it may not give full power if the IAT is wrong or something. That is just a small example of what can happen.
