Angry Crashed my truck on Thursday

Lady ran the intersection on Thursday and Bruticus plowed into her pretty hard. Truck is driveabe and USAA will have it towed to their shop this week. My question is what are some of the key things to have them look for, apart from frame or structure damage. I want the truck gone over with a fine tooth comb, since it has to make trips from SC to FL and I don't want it puking an injector or turbo. :s:

Everything. If her insurance is paying for repairs (as they should), take advantage at this point.

Not trying to get over (that's a first) but I don't want to have it looking pristine, but they never checked the turbo or made sure everything was in tact. I will just keep asking and hope they are thorough. I don't plan to pay for a long block anytime soon.

Hard to say.Check the frame, front axle ,front of the engine. The truck is an 05 with over 225k miles?Depending on how much damage there is it may be totaled even if it doesnt look like it is.

Thanks guys. I can't bear to lose that truck, it was a gift from my wife and I always wanted a dually. The mileage is high, I agree. It was used to tow a three car trailer from Texas to Georgia filled with other diesel trucks from auction. Then it was a kids hot rod for a while. Got it on a used car lot for $9,000 and it has been a blast.

Better days:

Well, it's not as bad as I was imagining. The obvious: fenders, hood, grill, headlights, bumper and core support. Things I would inspect closely would be the intercooler, condenser and radiator (front and back in case the fan came in contact with it).

Without being there, Im image the turbo is fine. But I would ask for the charge air cooler(intercooler) to be pressure tested for leaks. That would be my biggest concern under the hood. After that, engine rad, air conditioning condensor. Then frame, steering, suspension, etc. I should have read Jimbo486 post. He had all listed out. Sorry, my bad.

Thanks guys, you know I am making a spreadsheet of possible concerns to send to USAA.

John, the airbags did not deploy...what are you thinking? Maybe the impact was not hard enough?! **** sure felt like it though.

I guess if its not totaled my next thread would read something like what aesthetic changed would you make to your truck if you could...lol. Maybe sport bumper, yellow foglights, SRT-10 bumper and hood...or just fix it back to stock and wait for EFI-live to be released for the '05's. **** impact knocked my air cleaner off (can't find it) and bashed my aftermarket boost gauge against the windshield, rendering it a dead stick.

Hate to hear about your ride...it's a real bummer I know. I hit a cow going about 60 one night, not even a year after I bought my truck, and the front end was completely demolished....to the repair tune of $17,000!!!!

Guess what....my airbags never deployed either!!! Seems a bit strange doesn't it?

It does seem very strange. Makes you wonder what it takes to deploy these bags...maybe a whole herd

My hood was shoved up into my windshield....intercooler, a/c condensor, p/s cooler, and radiator were all shoved into the front of the engine....wife and I had to use our feet to shove the doors open from where the fenders got shoved/crumpled back....new doors, windshield, fenders, bumper, all coooling components, lights....you get the picture here.

Thank goodness my airbags were still good....after everything that had to get replaced and those things stayed intact....goodness gracious.

I did inquire several times why they never deployed and the only answer I ever got was "well, the impact just wasn't great enough".....I immediately called bullcrap on that one. Something just isn't right when you can completely destroy the front of a vehicle and those things never pop.
