CP3 mod and new lift pump

Hey guys,

Been doing some reading and am getting ready to do a lift pump on my '05. But I have some questions.

What exactly is the CP3 mod, what does it do, when is it needed and what does it do to the reliablity of the CP3. Also, what is the approx. cost?

Reason I ask is because I've also read that the modded CP3 needs a different lift pump, or at least a more powerfull one as I understand it that puts out more pressure. I'd like to do my fuel system mod once, so would like to know exactly what a modded cp3/LP would do vs. just a quality LP.

My mods are in the sig.

Thanks guys,

Igor.

There are a couple different companies offering modded CP3's. Some modify the internals to flow more fuel and sustain rail pressure at WOT, while others change the pump gear and gear cover to speed the CP3 up. The GFS-392 (walbro) or the FASS 150 should be enough pump for a modded CP3. I have a Floor-It Stage 1 CP3 and the GFS-392 pump is more than enough to supply it. I have mine running at about 30psi feeding the CP3.

Hopefully Glacier Diesel Power has a GFS-392 kit available for your model truck soon! If you want to check mine out sometime, let me know.

JeffK, your truck is bada$$. Love the single stack. Sorry to hijack this thread but what the heck is Haisley's street puller in your sig...?

Thanks Jeff,

Ya, I'd like to meet up sometime when I get back home. Your truck looks/sounds nice! I remember looking at pics of your lift before I got mine last year. Just drove 25k to get to pavement here (Tumbler Ridge in BC), and played around with the truck, definitley like it, but do think that it needs more fuel. Turning things up works great upto about 65% of the stack, then it seems to not do much more, and seems to run a little rougher as well vs. less then 65% on the stack. Ordered my fuel pressure gauge and pod the other day, hope to get that onto the truck when I get home. A set of 4.10 or 4.30 (if anyone makes them) would be nice.

At what point in the power craze does one "require" or "should have" a modded CP3. I'm waiting for Richard to come out with a kit for my truck, and then I'll look into upgrading the LP and later on the CP3.

Thanks again,

Igor.

trik, Thanks for the comments! The Haisley Street Puller is a Dual Disk Clutch that Haisley puts out for sled pulling and street/strip driving. It is one mean clutch!

Igor, PM me sometime when you are headed back to town. I am in and out of town all the time as well so hopefully we are both there at the same time. I think what you need next is a turbo. Maybe a SPS64 or SPS62/14 if you tow a lot. You will be amazed at the difference a turbo will make with your setup. I have a set of 4.10 gears that I was going to install in my truck, but I am still undecided. If I decide I am not going to use them I will let you know
