Don't use starting fluid. You're going to really fubar something with that. Is there any fuel in the filter housing? You can check by turning the yellow valve. You should be able to hear your lift pump running as well. Is it running? Air and compression are give me's. Fuel is usually the culprit unless the ECM decided to give up. Any codes? You can check by cycling the key three times. Turn the key to on then off three times without starting the truck. On the last one leave it in the on position. In the odo window where the numbers usually are it will give codes if any. If there are no codes it will just say the word done and then go back to your odo numbers. If there are codes post them. Also, state the year of the truck and what all you have done to it.

I don't see in your signature what all you're running. Is it an older CR or a newer one? I definitely agree with oilfield that its most likely the lift pump. Are you running a "chip" of any sort, and if so, are you running an aftermarket fuel system?

Well i had fuel and even if i didnt it should have started on eather. I pulled the valve cover and #1 injector extreme carbon build up!! Put air to the cylender and it came out the intake with the rockers off "valves closed" so we took off 23456 then the head! I ended up with 6 yes 6 burnt pistons 3 and4 were down to the compression ring. Next the motor has to come out at 19975 miles. And now im not even going to ask the dealer to try and waranty! Anyone know a good machine shop in the ST. LOUIS area?

I watched a guy in Idaho on a logging truck in the winter put too much starting fluid to a cat and darn near blew the head off it! Big explosion!!

Oops sorry yes i had a egt gauge pegged it 1 or 2 times 1600 normally kept it around 1200 max seen it hit 1775 with tst on it and it didnt back down "defuel". I WILL STRESS IF YOU PUT WATER ON YOUR COMMON RAIL USE STRAIT WATER """DONT MIX METHONAL 50/50 THIS IS THE 3RD MOTOR I HAVE HEARD ABOUT IN THE LAST 2 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! """""""" The meth added way to much timing and kabooom!!!!!!!!

Aluminum melts at 1450...Nuff said. The only option is to coat the pistons and spray straight water. I never burned a piston....Just valves....and I hit 1700 a couple of stupid times. More fuel makes more power but it doesn't make us smarter.KS
