Commander display

I am wondering if any of you w/ the commander are having this issue with yours. If I let the truck sit overnight or longer w/o driving it, the display will show (2) egt displays when I start the truck. I use the 4 place display, EGT, FUEL, TRANS, & BOOST. I will reset the one egt to show fuel, and it works fine for a while, until I let the truck sit for a while agian. It will show (2) egt's when I start the truck, and I have to keep resetting it.

Here is what it does when I start the truck after sitting for a while.....

The display will show a (1) display for the egt and it will say 18XX (Flashing) and drop in temp all over the place til I start the truck. When I start the truck, it goes to the 4 place display w/ the (2) egt displays again

I have tried and tried to duplicate this. I have only heard of it a couple of times also.

I think it has to do with the grounding of the module. It sounds like it is not recieving the proper ground until the vehicle is started. You should be able to turn the key on and your pyro will at least semi resemble the ambient temperature depending on how long the truck has been turned off.

Now on to the rest of the issue. It sounds like you have a warning set for EGT's. When you turn the key on for some reason the Commander reads 18xx which is the same thing it would read if you disconnected the thermocouple. When it sees this figure it knows that it is above your warning and starts to flash the warning screen which defaults to the large single display and should flash at you. Once the warning goes away it defaults back to your select screen choice.

So if you want to stop the flashing screen you can turn the egt warning off.

I would switch ground locations and make sure it is a good solid ground and not on some of the aluminum parts under the dash. If we fix this part you do not need to mess with the warning.

Hope that all makes sense. If not please let me know.

Also just FYI, I took every version of software with 2 different displays out to a truck to duplicate this and could not. Please let us know if this solves it.

I tried to explain this to you as well Quad, but I still don't think you understand. If you do this it does not revert back to your screen choice after it warms up. When it comes out of warning mode it displays the EGT's in 2(two) locations and removes one of the other displays that you had.

For me atleast it only occurs on cold mornings. I don't think it is a ground issue because when it was warm during the summer the pyro would not go into warning mode it would display the actual temp. Try putting the pyro in some ice to get it to duplicate the symptoms maybe.

josterbauer, atleast on mine the EGT's would always replace the top left if I can remember correctly. If you move EGT's normal display location to the display location that it replaces it alleviates the problem. Other than the weird falshing.

Just taking off the warning isn't a very good solution as that is one of the main reasons I bought the commander, that it has the ability to warn you.

Yes , this is exactly what mine is doing as well. Mine always replaces the fuel in the upper left corner with the egt's. I will try and put the egt in the upper left, and the fuel in the lower right, and see how it goes.
