Cleaned Injectors/nozzles after bad fuel
Cleaned Injectors/nozzles after bad fuel
Pumped from the bottom of a tank at a station (they told me afterward) and clogged two injectors (#3 and #5).
Truck ran bad, shook like a washing machine. I was extremely upset.
So I changed the filter. Then I tested each injector by removing one of the top injector wires to see which ones were not working. Easy enough. So I removed the two supply tubes, then the two injectors.
Removed the nozzles and soaked them in injector cleaner.
Sprayed the injector bodies with break cleaner, sprayered through the supply hole to clean them out.
Sprayed the nozzles until I saw 8 fine jets of cleaner come through the tiny holes.
Replaced the two copper injector washers.
Put everything back together with all proper torque specs.
Started it up and it belched smoke for awhile then ran like new.
I was originally told by a dealer and also a diesel mechanic that I would have to have the injectors replaced.
Cost me the price of break cleaner, injector cleaner, and two copper washers. Of course my time. I will never buy fuel from that place again.

You got lucky... that is an expensive lesson for many in the same situation.
I am happy you got it resolved with little more than elbow grease!!
We 235hp engine guys gotta look out for each other, huh?

Many times, the trash will go up the injector drilling you sprayed out. The drilling in the body. That leads directly to the control chamber and seat area. Once gunk gets in there, its a situation where the entire injector has to come apart. You did get lucky.
We get injectors here with gunk in the nozzles, but some of them also have it in the upper apart as well. CP3 pumps can puke little pieces of metal as well. I find little particles of CP3 plunger seomtimes. Pumps run with dirty fuel can really gunk up the entire injector.
