cheap temporary afe while i clean this one?

my afe pg7 needs cleaning, since it takes nearly a day altogether, does anyone know of a cheap temporary filter that will fit on the afe intake tube? or do i need to park the truck for the day?

When you clean an oiled filter the oil disapates the water and runs off but, if you really want to wait, clean it when you get home for the night and re-install the filter in the morning.

I bought another pg7. Why not? Clean it with simple green, let it dry for a week, totally over oil it, put it in a plastic bag, in the box and on the garage shelf. Last oil test the silicone level was 2 ppm. Same as when I ran the stock intake.

This brings up a question I have. I, too, have a AFE Stage 2, pg7. I know opinions and circumstances and location may vary somewhat.....but generally speaking..........what would you guess is the expected time frame between cleanings and/or replacement?

Mine went on my truck somewhere around 28-30K miles, I'd have to look at some notes to verify. But, Im now at 93K. I have pretty much always used and cleaned the outerware but I have never cleaned or replaced my PG7. My Silicon levels according Blackstone labs are almost always 4 ppm, including my last one 3k miles ago. Is 60k miles normal and ok?

I will probably buy another one soon, along with a cleaning kit too. Thanks in advance.

When I talked to an engineer from A.F.E. 3 weeks ago he told me that as long as you can still see the wire mesh its still good to go. Other wise he said every 30-50,000miles depending on conditions. I washed my old one about every 20,000km's and 3 weeks ago after washing it I noticed it had pin holes in it, he claim that it was from washing it to frequent. They sent me a brand new pg-7 for free!!!

The key is to use a outerwear. I clean it every month or on dirt roads every two weeks. Otherwise the pg7 filter I change out with my spare once a year! Yeah man, that's all it takes to maintain a oil test silicone level of 2 ppm!!!
