I like that idea of the hand held 75 WX ST ,CB but notice it does not have upper and lower bands and tha's what I like to use for distance. Got as far out as San Diego one night on some skip, talked to a guy for close to a minute, and that's from up here in Vancouver, B.C.

I just used a cigarette lighter adapter. You can get them at most truck stops.

I bought a mount from Geno's and installed it in my 06. Works great.

I was going to do the cig lighter deal...but I destroyed my plug. So, I just ran a dual wire right to the battery. They already had a small hole made in the firewall plug for the Jake wires, so it was ready made. Nice and simple.

Overall, the 75 is OK. It works good, but I hate the speaker. Gonna have to fix that soon. At least it is already set up for an external speaker. I plan on running this set up several months before I make up my mind about moving the console back for the big unit. If this one will work, I see no reason to change. I use my CB's for work. I'll know quickly if it will work or not.

I wish Geno's mount would work, but with the std trans, it won't fit.

Cant help to much about mounting the radio because i went with the cobra 75 but i can give some tips on the wiring. I wired my radio directly to the battery and grounded the radio under the dash so the radio will still work if my ignition switch broke or if i lost my keys.

Antenna mounting

There were perfect clips long the inner side of the the frame(drivers side) for the antenna wiring.

To get the wiring into the cab i went up the driver side fender and went through a small plug near the kick pannel.

hope this helps.

Cool thanks! I would almost rather power mine off of somthing that only comes on with the key! Here at work we got these things called add a circuit the other day they plug into your fuse box in place of one of your fuses. The have two fuse pluge on them one for the original fuse and one for the new circuit. They are pretty nice but a bit pricy. If any one else know somthing like this let me know. Also I'm thinking about adding a terminal strip inside the cab for power becasue eventually I'm going to have my CB, GPS, Phone booster. Well thanks guys.

Looks like it uses a relay to get battery voltage only when the key is on.

I finally mounted my Cobra 29 yesterday. I mounted it to the panel below the heater controls. I still have the use of the 3 cup holders and the radio is within easy reach. I mounted a 48" Firestick antenna using a stake pocket mount and ran the coax thru the firewall where the hood release cable goes thru.
