I moved mine to the right so that one of the braket screws would be in the main part of the dash, and not both in the "pop off" part of the knee bolster.

This is what I have to work with. My '03 has a relatively flat bolster as does my dad's '04....mine however is a different story. The lump is almost as tall as the brake controller....which I do bump on occasion when getting out of the truck. Never hit getting in, though.

yea, thats different from my 05... not many surfaces to mount too... I would try to mount it vertical, on the driverside of the 4x4 lever.

That is where I focused as well. The only problem with that is SWMBO can't get the seat close enough to reach the pedals with it mounted there. We are about to go on a long trip and I really need her to drive.

It is looking more and more like I will have to get the Cobra 75 ST...the hideaway one. Gotta have weather channels, so that kills the compact ones for the most part. Sure would have liked to have used a big unit. Peaked out sure helps with the hills around here.

Not sure how you feel about ripping up your interior, but I know several guys who have them mounted to the headliner in their hunting trucks. I know y'all are talking about NEW trucks so this probably isn't an option, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

I built a mount for myself on my '05. Since I have a 6 speed my cup holders are further back, and I use them a lot. I had to move the center console back about 2" so I made some brackets out of 3/16" plate steel. It took some time, but it works great. Since the pictures were taken I have moved the CB down about 1.5" and cut the mount shorter.

That was what I was hoping to be able to do. No dice, sadly. The cupholders are too close to the seat. The CB would eliminate two and one of them is the bigger one that I use the most. The other two are almost useless. Way too small for even a 12 oz can. My '99 had a good set of holders....now why did they have to go and change that out?

Looks like the Cobra 75 is my answer. Tomorrow, after I deliver the metal monstrosity I built this evening, I'll pop down to the truck stops to get one and a new antenna. I am going with a Lil Wil for now. I need to make some brackets for my Ranch Hand rack. No time now...got to get ready for the road trip. Lots to do.

I mounted my in the roof between the two visors and itr works great. I also bought a clip for a cell phone and the mic snaps right into it and is cliped on the visor.

I mounted mine in the roof between the two visors. All of the wires run between the head board and the roof and down the pillar. I have a cell phone clip that I have cliped to the visor and the mic clips right into it.

If you read my post and look at the rest of the pics, I had to move my console BACK 2" to keep my cupholders.

I have a WX75ST in my Jeep and it works pretty good.

Now that you mention it, I remember. Didn't have time last night to follow the link. Two inches would be enough, I believe. Would make it tight using the cupholder maybe. Looks like a project for later. Gotta hit the road in two days, actually a day and a half now. No time.

I'll get the 75 for now and later put it in SWMBO's truck. Always wanted one for that truck as well. Now in that one, '03 1500, I believe I could mount a 25 without too much trouble. She wouldn't hear of it though. I even offered to put her Galaxy in there...no dice there either.

FWIW, she hails from your neck of the woods, 4x4not. Fairfax/Vienna....NOVA. I lived in Herndon and Chantilly while I was there. Family is in Centreville still.

Picked up a Wx75ST today. Gonna mount it under the seat or console .....haven't decided yet. I am also going to make it a temp connection. May yank out the console and move it back so the good radio will fit one day.

I bought this one:
http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=...e&product_id=5
I got it on ebay considerably cheaper than this one.
Everything is in the handset. There is just a small box that mounts up under the dash. Dual FireStix and I'm in business!
